I know what the OP means about this place - it does have a very "managed" feel about it, but then you could say the same about many places, Debbies in Annerley or HOD, for example.
I certainly don't get the feeling that the girls are there against their will, though - I think this sort of place provides a work place, does the laundry, arranges bookings etc etc, and therefore takes a cut.
Some girls start out in these type of places and once they see how things work, the more clued-up ones branch out and become genuinely independent, such as many of the old Southfields girls (Smiley Sindy, Crystal of Harrow, Kylie Flirt et al).
