Ok interesting. I'm starting to wonder just what kind of percentage of SPs are "managed" by such gangs. Probably higher than I'd like. Perhaps naive of me, but I did not get the vibe that the ones I saw were under duress or anything. The Brazilians, I mean. The Asians are obviously being handled by gangs.
Truth is it's difficult to be sure to what extent any girl is complicit in her own trafficking or exploitation. Most of them will have some kind of "management" organising recruitment, transport, accommodation, and bookings but how voluntary that is, or how deceptive the control is, is hard to know. As I said above, a few years back it was easy to match many Brazilians and other Latin Americans to existing EE gangs, but things have evolved over the last couple of years and now it's much harder. The problem is even when discovered, few girls admit to what they're doing, few will give evidence, and many refuse support. Instead often they move on and vanish into the system.
As for Asians, even that is getting more confusing. There's evidence that the increase in Chinese numbers (including supposed Japanese and Koreans) is matched with an increase in their average age. It looks like someone who organises the recruitment for Chinese groups in the UK has realised there's money to be made from moving older oriental girls who are past age 28 or so (and so hard to sell in China as they're too old) into the UK and so extending their earning lives. Cheaper for the gangs: they don't need training or indoctrinating, they can be flown or smuggled into the UK and immediately put to work. Longer working life for the girls, so in theory they can earn more - but in reality they probably see little of it. The Chinese are crowding the cheap end of the UK market and they have a vast pool of easily available sex workers they can use who are too old (at 28+) for their home market. Bringing them in to expand the market is a no-brainer decision
