Five people have been arrested as part of an investigation into slavery and human trafficking in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police said a man and a woman – both 37 – had been arrested on suspicion of controlling prostitution for gain and drugs offences after a warrant was executed at an address in Hinckley Road on Wednesday.

The man, who has been released on bail, was also arrested on suspicion of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

Anyone who is a serious punter in Leicester knows about this place. I’m surprised you ain’t visited this shit hole.

Anyways, to cut a long story short, it hasn’t been running as a proper massage parlour for years, in other words, it’s still running but at the same time not really. When you get there, the entrance is on Bolton Road through a dodgy gate and through a back door. The main lass who has been working there for years and is the “main” girl is her - AW link - External Link/Members Only

She is an utter useless bitch, typical “no this” and “no that” whore.

There were two other regulars working with her, both as useless as each other, not even worth a pump and dump.

Amen to that. I don't know why they don't raid all of the Thai/EE parlours. Life appears far too easy for traffickers.

Interesting you mention the “Thai parlours”. From my experience (of seeing lots of Thai providers) there is very little risk of them been “trafficked”. Again from my experience they tend to fall into 2 brackets:

- work in a massage shop providing massages with the option of extras ranging from happy ending to B2B to full service but a large number of shops will prevent the girls providing full service.

- work as a tourer moving around the country from private apartments

In both scenarios the girls I’ve seen I’m 100% confident that they are here of their own free will. Many of them have either residency or legitimate visas. Some might be here on student visas and working illegally or have overstayed on their original visa.

Some of them (especially the tourers) will use “agencies” that help them with accommodation, travel and communications etc in the form of a “maid” and no doubt these have links to the underworld but I don’t think they meet the definition of “trafficked”.

Not meaning to be picky but I think there’s a big difference between someone working of their own free will, earning substantial amounts of money to send money home to support family, buy property or save (that might not have the correct papers). Versus girls who are working against their will, moved from their native country or coerced to do so then not profiting from the work they do.

I think it’s the Chinese market where that is far more prevalent.

There seems to be a sizeable cohort of punters who are happy to believe that because a parlour of foreign nationals is well run, the women smile, and they can tell you a story about working to pay of Granny's medical bills, they are not being trafficked. This is, of course, nonsense. Unless they can show you their passport and bank account, you have no way of knowing what is happening - and sometimes, of course, what is happening is very bad, and you are committing rape.

As I said I speak from experience and have gotten to know a number of providers quite well. As you describe on occasion seen paper work and even celebrated with one girl when she received her indefinite visa (that came at the cost of large legal fees to herself). Some of them have had or have English husbands etc etc.

ALL the girls I’ve seen have chosen the location they work in, chose to do they work they do. I can’t dispute that some do it to pay off debt, some may have issues such as gambling, drugs or alcohol.

The work the Thai girls do to support family (parents, siblings and offspring) isn’t viewed culturally like we view it in the west.

You clearly have your opinion and I have my own but my own is based of real life experience.

I don't think I'm being difficult here in pointing out that you just cannot know whether the girls you have seen have chosen the location they work in and chosen the work they do? If they were being trafficked, how would you know? Again, get this wrong, and it is rape.

To "raid" a place, they need a warrant, to get that, evidence that an Offence is being or has been committed. It's not like the old days when (for example) possession of large numbers of condoms was enough.

Your question applies to ANY working girl of any nationality. We take the same risk no matter who we see. This is one of the reasons the feedback here is vital as it helps to reduce the risk by using others experiences.

The chances of an apparently British woman fluent in English being trafficked or coerced are very, very low. It is simply untrue to say it is the same risk.

I could write an essay on this, but this is not the politics thread and I don't have the time.

Consent is given in good faith in the moment when not under duress, of sound mind and cannot be revoked retrospectively.
A punter can't be expected to know all of her background or story in that moment if she presents as willing and consenting.
AFAIK no punter has ever been charged with sexual offences for sex with a trafficked woman under the moronic 'strict liability' laws.

Obviously, use your brain - if she's pulling away or fearful, then something is probably wrong. If she told me she was being trafficked - i would report it to the authorities.

In the case of English girls then Trafficked yes it’s highly unlikely but but coerced no…… the risks are the same.

As I said I’ve spent lots of time with a number of Thai providers. I’ve looked through my reviews and can see 16. Of them I know for a fact that 5 of them have British husbands/ex husbands/kids. 3 others are business owners so must be working legally/residents. Of the remaining 8 I’ve seen copies of the visa papers for 3 of them (as they’ve had to go through lengthy and costly renewal applications) & a further 3 of them have lived here for at least 5 years as can be seen either through reviews on here or their social media.

There are many other members on here that are integrated into the Thai communities and have lots of experience of their practices and culture with way more experience than me but I think the view that Thai girls are likely to be trafficked/coerced/controlled is mis-placed.

You partake in this hobby, you are having sex with someone who doesn't really want to have sex with you - there's plenty of mental femtards out there that can and do see that as crossing the threshold for rape.

Fortunately, sanity and the law disagrees.

As I said - if she was crying, fearful, communicating indications she was there against her will etc I would stop the punt and report it.

Like you said, you can never be fully sure...

No Roms and it’s run by Romanians.

Three of their most regular working girls are all Roms. Two are in their mid 20’s and one in her late 30’s. All are running your typical conveyor belt service. Each as bad as the other. Not even worth as a pump and dump. It’s an utter dump. Last time I went they didn’t even have a working lightbulb in the loo. Had to use my torch on me iPhone. It’s not a surprise that they failed the fire safety inspection etc.

There was also a fourth Romanian who was advertising there quite regularly for the past couple of years. Thin blonde with massive tits and a face like a horse(no offence meant) but those who have seen her will know what I mean…

One of the reasons is their availability. It’s one of only few places in Leicester where you can go punting at 2-3am in the morning. They usually start in the evening and work until 5-6am the next morning. So they cater for clubbers, night-owls, drunkards etc.

It is NOT rape you idiot, it's a summary offence under section 53A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, tried only in a magistrates court and carries a maximum fine of £1,000. Subject to the standard public interest to prosecute.

Rape is an indictable offence subject to trial by jury at crown court and carries a maximum of life in prison.

However the chances are anyone found in the company of a trafficked or coerced escort would likely be treated as a witness and not charged at all.

You sshould really check your facts before thowing rape accusations about.

Paying for Sexual Services
With effect from 1 April 2010, section 53A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, as inserted by section 14 of the Policing and Crime Act 2009, creates a new offence of paying for the sexual services of a prostitute subjected to force etc.

Section 53A provides:

1. A person (A) commits an offence if:

a. A makes or promises payment for the sexual services of a prostitute (B);
b. A third person (C) has engaged in exploitative conduct of a kind likely to induce or encourage B to provide the sexual offences for which A has made or promised payment; and
c. C engaged in that conduct for or in the expectation of gain for C or another person (apart from A or B).

2. The following are irrelevant :

a. Where in the world the sexual services are to be provided and whether those services are provided;
b. Whether A is, or ought to be, aware that C has engaged in exploitative conduct.

3. C engages in exploitative conduct if:

a. C uses force, threats (whether or not relating to violence) or any other form of coercion; or
b. C practices any form of deception.

The offence is one of strict liability. This means that it is irrelevant whether A is, or ought to be, aware that B is subject to exploitative conduct by C.

"Sexual services" is given the same meaning as section 4(4) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, if the service provided involved penetration of B's anus or vagina, penetration of B's mouth with a person's penis, penetration of a person's anus or vagina with a part of B's body or with anything else, or penetration of a person's mouth with B's penis.

"Prostitute" is defined in section 54(2) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 as:
"A person who, on at least one occasion and whether or not compelled to do so, offers or provides sexual services to another person in return for payment or a promise of payment to that person or a third person."

"Exploitative conduct" is conduct which involves the use of force; threats (whether or not relating to violence); any other form of coercion; or deception. Force should be given its ordinary meaning and would involve physical violence against B.

"Gain" means any financial advantage, including the discharge of an obligation to pay or the provision of goods and services (including sexual services) gratuitously or at a discount; or the goodwill of any person which is or appears likely, in time, to bring financial advantage. A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.

Charging Practice
This offence has been introduced to address the demand for prostitution services and reduce all forms of commercial sexual exploitation. It has been developed, in part, to enable the UK to meet its international legal obligations to discourage the demand for sexual services in support of Conventions to suppress and prevent trafficking for sexual exploitation.

It is anticipated that this offence will be considered most often in relation to off-street prostitution. If the police apprehend someone who has paid for sexual services with a person involved in street prostitution, it is likely that soliciting (section 51(A) Sexual Offences Act 2003 - see Kerb Crawling below) would be a more appropriate offence to pursue as this does not require proof of exploitative conduct.

The offence is most likely to arise in police brothel raids where there is enforcement against suspects controlling or exploiting prostitution for gain and where clients are apprehended in the operation. However, the offence is not limited to particular types of premises. It could therefore apply to premises which may have a legitimate business, for example a nightclub, as well as online internet-based services.

You don't think that if you end up having sex with someone has been trafficked and is being forced into providing sexual services against their will, that it's rape? Rape is simply non-consensual sex, whether you end up in a court and meet a legal definition or not.

Whilst there are some that may have leave to remain possibly because they have been here through legit means its way harder to get visas even with an english husband. There are definitely less "independent" type thais that are integrated in the community than say pre covid
Unfortunately many that will come over now will be on a tourist, student visa where they cant work that will have been arranged through a 3rd party and they will be paying off the debt to get here, they are not arranging their touring locations and handling their calls. Yes they may have come from the bar fine industry in Thailand and are happy to be a working girl like you say to support family back home but if the place is checked by immigration they run the risk of being deported still in a position of debt. They are being exploited by the people who are running these networks

I don’t doubt that this is the case for many of them but it’s simply not true of them all. I very rarely see girls who use handlers for comms for multiple reasons including the increased risk you talk of. I know for a fact that many of the tourers I’ve met do choose exactly where they work because they refuse to work in certain flats, cities and I’ve known them move on after a day or 2 because they don’t like it.

As with any nationality the risk of been coerced or working for reasons that would make us less comfortable like debt, gambling or drugs exists. As punters we way up these risks alongside others and make our choices.

You really are an idiot, it has nothing to do with what you think, the law is quoted in my previous post and it's very very clear, having sex with a trafficked or coerced woman is a stand alone summary offence that carries a maximum fine of £1000.

I'll try and explain it in more simple terms, to be convicted of rape you need to have sex with someone against their will, a trafficked escort is giving the punter consent to have sex with her so it is not rape.

The trafficker or person who has forced her into prostitution is the one who commits the more serious indictable offence and ends up in crown court then in jail for many years upon conviction.

If you want to class yourself as a rapist that is your choice but do not keep accusing members of this forum of rape when the law very clearly states it is not rape.

Having said that if anyone suspects the escort or masseuse they've seen has been trafficked or coerced in any way they should report it to the authorities, this can be done anonymously by various means and may result in those who are actually the criminals being brought to book.

Offline midspunter

What I'm saying is simple - rape isn't just a legal term. If you're having intercourse with a trafficked woman, that's still non-consensual sex. If you're more comfortable calling it non-consensual sex, that's up to you, but morally it describes the same act and the same situation.

You really haven't got a clue have you, in the scenario you describe the punter would have to know the woman was trafficked and the law reflects the fact that punters can't know if a woman is trafficked or not, hence the lesser charge.

I'm more than confident that the vast majority of members on here would not engage in sexual activity with someone they knew was coerced or gave any indication she didn't want to have sex and that is the whole point the woman gives the punter consent, the fact she was forced to give that consent is another thing altogether.

Anyway I've said all I can apart from stop accusing members of this forum of rape, rape only occurs when the man knows the woman does not want to have sex just as the law reflects.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a hypocritical argument on here. As Davie states “RapeL has a legal definition but for reasons known to yourself you wish to have higher moral standard which is your choice.

However, your moral definition only applies to “trafficked” providers and coerced providers who are not “trafficked” are excluded.

I think we all (?) share the issue with coercion, but  I suspect that we do all have fun with ladies that we know are trafficked.  Some older Polish gals that used to work from a flat near Bethnal Green tube explained to me with big grins that they were trafficked.  The 'travel agency' that they used knew that they were going to sell sex, and took a percentage, in exchange for arranging travel and accommodation - which needs credit checks etc.  I believe that is technically trafficking even though it was opt-in and negotiated.

They thought our law was silly - plus of course there were three so they ran a rota with phone, down time, and work - which is a brothel.  The agency also arranged for them to go home on holiday, and I believe arranged a non-working holiday trip up through Italy and France that they said was a hoot because they could party, pull, and shag who they wanted.

Its a shame we have laws that would classify such a consensual system as trafficking, and brothel-keeping - I believe they were very happy, well remunerated, and quite safe.

i miss the (older) Polish ladies.  Business-like but fun, and pretty straight about what you were going to get.

I believe that is technically trafficking even though it was opt-in and negotiated.

You may be right, for all I know, although I'm pretty sure that's not what most of us would consider 'trafficking'.
