The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal hardly makes "a glittering military career" - you just had to be a serving member of the Military or Police to get one.
True. In fact if you examine the initially impressive displays found on police, fire etc these days you'll often find: on the right, a long service medal (ie, just for turning up to the job you're being paid for; and then in order: a 2002 Golden Jubilee medal (for still being there); 2012 Diamond Jubilee (same); 2022 Platinum Jubilee (same); 2023 Coronation medal (same). That's five for possibly having achieved zilch.
Occasionally there'll also be a QPM/KPM, or QFSM/ KFSM which suggests some achievement, but actually still just means, usually, some seniority and time served (lower ranks can get them too, often for being female or ethic). Rarely there'll be a QGM or similar for something properly noteworthy. And finally there are some who joined from the military and have some proper medals.
