I'm as much of a sucker for a happy-ending massage as the next man (unless the next man is Wayne Rooney), but something that puzzles me in my (and our) punterly behaviour, is the premium we're evidently prepared to pay above both the standard non-sexual massage rate and the standard full hour escort rate, for the dubious privilege of the hybrid variant.

A civvy massage costs in the region of £50-£75 p/hr. A fairly good escort can be hired for £120+/- p/hr. Yet the modal London average rate for HE-massages is often around £100-£120*, and usually follows a time formula similar to that described by Moutarde2; namely with 10-20 minutes of time-over-target. So, in general we're getting 1/3rd to 1/6th of the hour's time we'd get with an escort focussed almost wholly on business, whilst typically getting 2/3rds to 5/6ths of (an often inferior) massage vs a standard non-sexual massage.

Notwithstanding that some escorts either don't provide massage, or are genuinely poor at delivering them, they nevertheless are usually prepared to include bj's and sex in their base fee, whereas fewer than half HE-massage practitioners would be prepared to indulge in either (if at all) without further premia.

Note to self: this is not rational economic behaviour. Why do we do this?
