Don't go there.

Be quite nice this time of year ...no ?

Jokes aside,it's a real shit show.
Daughter is stuck in Spain needing to get back as has a flight elsewhere tomorrow.
No idea when it will clear.
Massive frustration for all travellers as with staff cuts no one on site to help.

I wasn't referring to the place, I was telling a member who has a habit of pushing the boundaries of the rules not to speculate or bring anything political into it.

I suppose, the more you fly. The more the chance that you will have to put up with instances of this sort.

I recall a few years ago on an EasyJet flight out of Gatwick. Just before boarding, it came over the tannoy that there would be a delay due to a fault being found with the aircraft.

I actually knew one of the EasyJet staff on control and had the chance to speak to her.
Apparently the captain had heard a noise coming from one of the engines and wanted it investigated before take off.
So of course I asked the obvious question as to how long the flight would be delayed.
She said,
“As soon as we can find another pilot who can’t hear the noise”

If it is a hacking then it will most probably be done by either a state or a team that is state sponsored, utilising a pre-existing weakness that they have been waiting to use

Seen as the UK isn't exactly flavour of the month with pretty much any of the potentials, it would be a long list to work down, without being able to confidently rule any of the main players out

Given how effective it was you have to wonder why any of those players haven't done so previously.

It could be a computer glitch -  there was one last August, for example.

A computer hitch probably caused by someone hacking into the system. Perhaps it will be a major bank or banks next which has also happened before. Events like this are becoming more frequent now even with safeguards put into place people or foreign governments manage to find a way into the system

I'd imagine hacking teams don't take advantage at the earliest opportunity, rather they wait until it suits them best.

Didn't the US/Israel/whoever have a line in to Iran's centrifuges for years before then making them malfunction, something like that anyway, or the Israeli / Hezbollah pager plan etc.

Both examples heavily simplified but sometimes patience is a better weapon, especially in warfare

News report states:

"She [Heidi Alexander, Transport Secretary] is also expected to tell MPs that a cyber attack was "categorically" not the cause of the fault.
