AW location map

I have just discovered, to my alarm, that when I am looking at SP profiles on my HL and I click on Location, the map sometimes highlights in red the route from my home to somewhere near the SPs working location, shown by the red dot. This only applies to the Northeast. For those I have visited I know this is not her actual location, but my home location is shown accurately.

What is happening and what should I do?
I don't mind if the map no longer shows the SPs location which is never accurate anyway.

This applies to AW on my phone, I haven't tried my desktop yet.

If it opens your maps app then it is doing what you asked it to do. AW don't have your info.

Go on your AW profile and try to change your postcode, for instance

Not my real postcode is G81 4RD, and I know the area this postcode covers, so now change mins to G81 2FF, which is on the opposit side of town

AW only asks for the first part so I can't see how it can show from the OP's house?

But it opens up a different page which is Google maps, i'm guessing that Google maps has his home address which is why it's showing it 

When I open the map I get a dotted red line around the girls postcode but not a red line from my home address however I always view AW in Incognito mode so perhaps it's not linking to my Google account

Did you perhaps grant the app location permission? It would only have asked once when you first used it. You can easily remove that permission on a per domain basis in your browser settings.

I think it depends which version of AW you use. The desktop one shows the SPs Postcode area as described, the mobile version shows a pinpoint at the Centre of the area. It was slightly disconcerting when it showed one girls location as the Local nick when I did a search.

It's using Google Maps to plot the route, and Google Maps has access to your location unless you've specifically disabled it. And even then it will revert to giving access after every system update or reboot.

The girls location won't be accurate as that's just based on the geographic centre of the first part of the postcode

Thank you all for the info and suggestions. I have deleted my home location from Google maps on my phone and now AW just shows SPs location as a red dot.

I will see if my home location reappears in future and check my desktop and laptop.
