I frequently visit London often (for the sex world there only; parlours, saunas, sex clubs) but have never been to any of the walk-ups. I am assuming walk-ups are the open doors with staircases on show with signs saying something like "21 year old asian model upstairs, 3rd floor" ?

The amount of times I have walked past the places of this kind in Soho and looked in, and never had the courage to walk up the stairs for a quick, good shag are countless.

If I went to one of these places, what is the etiquette? Do I walk up the stairs and does a pimp meet me at the top or what? What happens when I get to the floor on which the girl(s) are on? What do I say? How cheap/expensive are those places?

I read some horror stories on the internet of guys being robbed of their wallets or all of their cash by the pimps for not paying enough, even pimps marching punters to cash machines to drain their accounts of their money. Any truth to these stories?

Also, do the girls in these places clock watch? If I haven't managed to cum after the full time is up, does she just stop and say that's it, do you have to be exact with the time you agree to ?

Your average WG wouldn't be up for doing that, and Soho WGs tend to be choosy regarding the services on offer (OWO is rarely on the menu).

There are about 30 walkups in Soho and they're not all marked with "model upstairs" or similar these days.  If you see an open doorway on a busy street in Soho then most likely it's a walkup.  For example, 61 Dean Street.  It just has an "open" light above the door, inside there is a lit stairwell, no other signage.

They provide the condoms and put it on themselves. Don't expect a GFE service in Soho unless you're prepared to pay for more than the minimum 10 minutes of pump n dump session. Girls change from day to day in different flats. Have a look at the wiki for a rough idea of who you will find when.

The actual walk up scene is relatively safe.  Poorly-written neon signs stating 'Model - 2nd Floor' etc are used to be used to attract you up those stairs.  I believe most now have a closed circuit camera on way up.  You may bump into another punter before seeing the maid, pro or both.

The pimps/cash machine scenario you speak of should not be confused with the walk ups.  If you walk around Soho, you may have scantily clad women inviting you into their strip clubs.  NEVER go.  This is a clip joint.  You may end up getting charged hundreds by 'bouncers' for hostess drinks and find your exit not as easy as your entrance.  You may have seen it on fly on the wall docs such as Soho Blues.  Tourists and gullible out of towners get scammed.

Soho, although being heavily monitored and policed, does have pick pockets and theft, so just keep your wits about you as you walk around with a post punt high or whatever.  Avoid any gangs you may see at night, dive into one of many bars of coffee shops if need arises, don't pat which pocket your wallet/phone is in when you see a sign "Pick Pockets Operate In This Area" as a spotter may be clocking you and so on.  Let common sense prevail.

About 5 or 6 years ago me and my friend decided to get a taxi into London at 3AM. When we got there we asked the taxi driver if he knew of any 'girls' who worked around the area. He led us to a place with a sign in soho saying 'model' outside the establishment.

When we got up there we were told it was £40 for 10 minutes. Being drunk and thinking with only one thing we said yes. I have done it a few times,but generally find it a expensive,unsatisfying way of punting.The 10 mins is not enough for me I am just getting into my stride and being told its time to stop.The more time you have or different positions the more it costs, your better off with a well reviewed UKP indie.
