Author Topic: Deposit scam for massage - Peterborough  (Read 485 times)

Offline ringer

TLDR: been asked for £30 deposit for a massage booking at a private address 'to show that I am serious'

You're probably already thinking scam. If I'm giving too much detail here please let me  know

Searching Friday-ad.co.uk I came across this new (to me) local ad for a female who says she has 12 years of experience in massage, but no prices were given. The location on the advert is for a suburban house on the outskirts of Peterborough. Checking online that house was last sold in 2011 and the occupants' names sound like an English couple.

Contacted them on WhatsApp and I got a grammatically correct and very 'English' sounding response - from a supposed Thai person. Not trying to be derogatory to Thai people - but you can usually tell if someone is very fluent in English or not, and most Thai people are not fluent in that way.

The name on the advert is Leem and on WhatsApp it is YO. The WhatsApp image at this point is a dog looking up at the camera

I had to ask for (they usually give it straight away) a list of services. The list included different types of massage and a couple of extras - Body to body and Happy Ending - but no prices. I'm already smelling a rat.

When they did give a price I asked to book and then they asked for a deposit 'to show that I am serious'. I was given bank details of a very English sounding man and a bank in Colchester (bear in mind that this is in Peterborough). Name was Glen (something, can't remember exactly). Told them I'm not comfortable with this, have never been asked for a deposit before. The photo on WhatsApp then changed to that of a very busty young lady with a plunging neckline. I was still skeptical but offered to come at the appointed time with cash - and stated that I am not paying the requested deposit. Was told to try elsewhere - then the photo was removed along with the bank details.

I'm fairly new to this game but have not across this modus operandi before. I know £30 is neither here nor there but glad I dodged this particular bullet.
