No official reason has been given but David Moyes has said Everton have a strong following in Scotland and their fans like to travel.

I would suspect the reason is a 'dry run' for Newcastle to check the feasibility of playing league games there. If they decide to revamp and increase capacity at St James' Park we'd need somewhere else to play while it goes on and there's nowhere local that's suitable.

That would be some trek for fans for a season / most of a season depending on how rapid the upgrade could be completed
The maths behind the expansion SCR is mind boggling
On the other hand Chelsea dont need to be concerned one bit in the slightest 39 expensively assembled players on the books no less, crack on

I take it that ground sharing with Sunderland is not an option then  :D
I guess it also gives our friends north of the icewall a chance to watch some proper football

Despite a friendly he looked pretty good for the match United v ManU in Dublin
A great signing

Sunderland won't do it mate, they've stated publicly they wouldn't entertain any groundshare while SJP's refurbed, staying true to the SMB tag.

Newcastle fans wouldn't be too keen but I think it would be accepted as a better alternative to traveling to Edinburgh, but hey ho what can you do.

Gateshead stadium's far too small and the only other one's Elland Rd but Edinburgh's only a few miles further and much bigger.

A night out in Edinburgh after the game is probably more appealing  than a night out in Leeds. ( appologies to webbie  :D)
Are London street and Scorpio saunas still going ? Had some good punts there back in the day.

As you say there's not much in it between Leeds and Edinburgh from Newcastle, rough times Newcastle to Edinburgh are 1 hour 30 - 1 hour 45 by train and 1 hour 25 to Leeds so next to nothing. By car it's about 2 hours to Leeds and 2 hours 30 to Edinburgh so again not much in it.

The East coast mainline runs from London to Edinburgh so still accessible for many of the more Southern clubs, bearing in mind that Newcastle is already out on a limb for those clubs fans

Yeah, straight run on one train for all the London clubs and of course the Man U fans.  ;)

Doubt very much if the boot was on the other that the Mags would allow Sunderland to play at Sid James Park. Don't think the police would be too happy as well.

Not big enough mate, Elland Road would be pushing it, we've got 50,000 every home game and another 50,000 on a waiting list for season tickets, plus no idea how many go into the members ballot for home tickets that go on 'public' sale.

Riverside is 33,700 while Elland Rd is 37, 800 so hardly a huge difference and its half the distance away
I know its the wrong colour and not in the same league as SJP -  unless Newcastle get relegated

33,444 or 29,344 fewer seats that's almost a full ground for the Riverside or over 3/4 of Elland Rd..

Any Rangers fans here  - or should that will anyone admit to being one ?

Derek McInnes hasnt had a great start lost 2 drawn 2 Out of Europa, 9th out of 12 in Scots Prem with 1 point probably the most under pressure  manager in the UK

Probably gone before the end of september once Celtic have opened up a gap at the top of the table.

Won two European Cup medals, unused sub for Man Utd in 1968 and with Aston Villa in 1982, despite only playing for nine minutes before being replaced by Nigel Spink. Well done that man!

Liverpool ownership Fenway Sports Group has agreed deal to sell a third of the club to consortium headed with Amit Bhatia and also Jeff Bezos.

The consortium is led by the British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia. This deal now values the club at about £5.5billion.

Amit Bhatia is to become Liverpool's new vice-chairman and take a place on the board in return for a minority stake in the 20-times English football champions, statement reports.

Jeff Bezos is considered a passive investor, he'll not have a seat on the board at Liverpool at present - plan confirmed.

The problem is that unless i'm mistaken Indians dont understand football
Cricket = yes / footy = no
You need look no further than Blackburn & the Venkys
With Bezos involved it will likely be a success he wont let it be otherwise

Ask QPR fans about Amit Bhatia, he was very popular there for the best part of two decades.

So I attended Coventry's last pre season warm up game against AS Monaco last night. On the approach to the stadium blokes selling half & half scarves. Who actually buys a half & half scarf, especially for a friendly for fucks sake. It's not exactly a Champions league fixture     ( Coventry beat them 2-0 , by the way  :yahoo:)

Good to see big Dan Burn's been made club captain.

Not the best of games today but I think Mason Miley showed what a prospect he is, at 17 he did a great job out of position as right back.

Aston Villa just reached verbal agreement to sign Japan goalie Zion Suzuki from Parma for €35m
Villa's entered the scene strong as Paris Saint-Germain deal agreed and then collapsed - matching PSG proposal today.
Suzuki has agreed terms with Villa and gave green light.

It seems Martinez will go to juventus now.

Suzuki is some keeper & a good world cup for him
You think of a Japanese player being small - far from it 6'3" & just under 100kg - well powerful
One for the future for sure

Leeds got a mention as being interested a while back
Him or Trafford thats a difficult one
Trafford for now easy however Suzuki a relatively unknown quantity with i reck high upside potential

Surprised Juventus not going for Suzuki themselves
If Villa can get the deal over the line a banging signing

If this deal goes through then I’d be sad to see Martinez leave. However he’s been an excellent keeper for us so if he fancies a fresh challenge then so be it. Suzuki has some big boots to fill though!

Arsenal looking good today. Have to be favourites to retain the title.
City looking decidedly second best at the moment.
