Heading out to the Middle East soon and just wondering if it’s worth stopping off in DXB for a couple of days?
Anyone been recently or have info to share?

Thanks.

I would seriously not contemplate going to the Gulf at the moment, if the war kicks off again Dubai and much of the Gulf states could be leveled.

As you know it’s a paradise for punters. You get the best value for money as long as you make your choices wisely. No need to be paranoid about war. It’s just fine here.

Glad to hear that. I’ve heard it’s really quiet in Dubai at the moment. Is that the case or is the nightlife still lively?

just remember if you have to leave in a hurry you may not be able to, and the government probably won't be sending any emergency flights.
If you fly there now and you end up in the shit it's your problem, not theirs.
There's a world shortage of jet fuel, numerous flight cancellations, several airlines and aircraft leasing companies going bust - and the possibility of things kicking off again without notice. You'd have to be mad to go there now

I was there when the war started.
Flights were cancelled for a week or so, and we had to fund our own food, accommodation, etc.
If it kicks off again you will probably be stuck there for several days.
Not worth the risk imo.

OK so my info is on Qatar rather than Dubai but I flew to Thailand and back with Qatar (so a stopoff via Doha) recently. Other than the route for the flight from Doha to Bangkok being straight south to start there was no real issue. Having said that I was conformtable doing it as I was only spending a couple of hours each way in the potential danger zone so I was ok with the potential risk.

I wouldn't be happy spending a day or more there voluntarily in the current circumstances.

The thing is, even if you're only stopping over for a couple of hours in the Gulf, if drones and missles start rainning down, all airports will close, and you're stuck. Folk heading to the Far East from Europe are wiser flying with a Chinese or other Asian airline, as they fly over Russia, missing out the Middle East.
