Author Topic: Punting wrist watches, what do you guys use?  (Read 3135 times)

Online loner

Any of you into watches? Mechanical, quartz, fashion etc.

What do you use when you go on your punts to make sure you keep track of your time?

I always take my trusted Gshock DW-5000R-1AER.

Offline RandomGuy99

A cheap basic watch that accurately tells the time. That's all you need.

Isn’t a G-Shock a bit chunky to be wearing when you’re on the job, not my kind of watch but I’d have been worried about catching it on something tender. More often than not I take my watch off which comes from doing a lot of massage where you don’t want to get oil on the strap. Anyway I wear whatever watch I’m wearing that day, I have a few, none of which are bigger than 36mm diameter..

Yeah ur right, today it felt abit clunky against the skin actually. Which other watches do you wear? Seikos/timex? etc

For reasons of family discretion I don’t want to be too specific, I don’t go for the Rolex/Omega diver cults & their offshoots than seem to dominate watch collecting, but I have loads of oddballs that I plucked off eBay before brexit fucked up imported such things from abroad.

Good choice, when I was into BDSM I used to wear one of those upside down nurse watches pinned though my left nipple.

"With features such as 20-bar water resistance, a shock-resistant structure, and essential functions like a stopwatch, countdown timer, and alarms, this model reinforces G-SHOCK's trailblazing vision of durability, design, and performance"

Maybe he's into watersports (some of those squirters and golden shower people can really shoot out that pee) and he likes to give 'em a real pounding and doesn't want to risk his watch breaking on the job and he likes to use the countdown timer and an alarm to make sure he gets the time he paid for?

Just wanted to see if there were any watch guys on the forum hehe

Fair enough. So I guess perhaps a Blancpain Fiftyfathoms or maybe a Glashutte Original? Im a huge watch guy too, though Ill never wear a mechanical piece to a punt for fear of getting mugged by Sergei.

I've got a Samsung smart watch that I wear pretty much all the time.

I have to take it off during a punt, because if someone calls or I get certain alerts, it starts ringing or pinging -

Iconic watches for sure but I can’t swim and I can’t fly so their specialties are wasted on me, plus at 42mm + they are way too big for my scrawny wrists. The Fifty Fathom was made by Fred Lip’s company in France who went on the make some great odd ball watches, French watches like French cars are nothing if not idiosyncratic.

Nice. But how do you keep track of your punting time? or are you quite good gauging time.

I’ve got a Mickey Mouse watch that I love. I’m amazed it’s lasted so long to be honest.
I also have a Timex (was my dads)…….. I wear it on special occasions and it usually gets more questions asked about it than either my Rolex or Breitling. Just don't
ask me what time it is as it loses five minutes every five minutes. 😀

Whats on my wrist right now is an old Rotary watch.

I also own a Raymond Weil that I left behind after leaving a punt. Must be bloody 30 years ago.
It wasn't until I was in the train back home I even noticed.
Thankfully the lass was someone I had seen several times and when I rang her she simply said, “It’s here safe and sound. Just tell me when you want to
Pop back and get it”

I did…… three days later. 🤷🏼

I have some nice watches, but don't wear any to see an escort. Just one more thing to take off, put back on etc

If I need to I just go pick up my watch or phone, or look at the SP's phone which they often leave on the bedside cabinet.

Offline Kingfisher69

I don't wear a watch when I go punting. There's generally a wall clock in a massage parlour. I find watches get in the way, they can scratch a WG or get covered in oil during a massage so why bother wearing one.

Yes, the only thing you need to check at the start is that the room clock is set to the right time and not 5/10 minutes fast.

I bring a cheap watch that I obviously put on the bedside table so the SP knows I'm keeping tabs,I keep a reminder that I've brought it in amongst my keys ect.
Used to have a regular that would remind me often that hotel clocks are always wrong but obviously only to her benefit.

it is very easy to read the time with the briefest of brief glances
so as not obvious to the burd that i'm checking how long is on the meter
beneficial on 1st visits especially & when at the local R&T

Sadly the week after I got my Raymond Weil watch back after forgetting it when punting. I went and forgot the Richard Mille watch with exactly the same SP.
Funnily enough when I rang her to tell her I’d forgot it at her place……. She’d fucking disappeared  :D
