And another thread on the same thing,  they're almost daily now.

We should create a dedicated master thread for this, and every time someone starts a new thread, just merge it on the end.

Punting phone - offline when not required, block/report as spam all numbers. Don't mix own and punting socials.

Do you know anywhere that you could get a free sim? or is it possible to get a separate number on a phone with an esim?

There's a whole thread (or two) on here discussing punting phones and eSIMS, hush etc etc., with lots of great ideas.

Sorry, I would link it but can't be bothered to search for it.

Just search and see what comes up.

Are you using your everyday phone, or a burner?

Yes, most offer free sims (but you have to pay for calls). My phone has 8 ESIM slots and I have one that generates a new number on each use and some that roam all networks to get better connection and ones for travel roaming

Honestmobile do some very cheap ESIMS (with restrictions)

The problem with a normal phone is that someone with dishonest intentions, is actually looking for links to your number that give away your identity. Once they know your identity, you become open pray for all and sundry.

Your details could well be shared on the dark web for scammers to.

The advice is to ignore them, do not engage in any way whatsoever. Or, just tell them you have reported their number to "Report Fraud", (previously Action Fraud). External Link/Members Only - you could actually report them too.

Just a few of the posts that appear almost daily on this subject.
