So, not necessarily full punting. But I was paying for some online content off a cam girl. Yes, I know, stupid me but hey. The wee man was desperate

Well she sent the link via what I assume was an IP grabber. And she's now claiming with my IP address she'll report me to the police, make my life hell etc etc unless I pay

Now afaik with my IP address they can't actually do that? Is that right? Just needing someone to confirm my suspicions

I'm pretty sure the only one who has access to your details is your ISP.

That's what I thought man. Just an overthinker when I come across things I haven't dealt with before. Thanks for the reassurance

What is she going to report you to the police for anyway?

Embarrassing yes, but she's claiming scat is illegal

Offline myothernameis

If concerned she now has your ip address, switch of the router, and restart router, and this will give you a new ip address

But can she report the IP address, rough location and ISP provider to the police?

Also is it just an on and off at the plug job?

Wait, let me get this right - you think that sending money to someone whilst they're smearing themselves with their own gunk is illegal?

I don't. They do.

It's more to do with the threat they'll send my IP to the police. Would they actually turn up?

I think blackmail is rather more serious than participating in hardsports  :D

Online Kingfisher69

It's not possible for Joe Public to get a location address from an IP address, only the ISP knows it. The only way to get it from an ISP is through the courts.

Also watersports and hardsports while yucky are not illegal between consenting adults.

But if you're still worried about is get a VPN next time you contact someone.

If she wants to report you to the police tell her to go ahead and do so, she'll be the one with egg on her face, or something on her face anyway.

Tell her the maximum sentence for blackmail is 14 years.

Online Atrueyorkie

Call the bluff.

She’s voluntarily selling allegedly illegal content and wants to report you which in turn would include herself. Shes a bimbo and you need to stop worry and get on with your life, nothing to worry about.

Change your punting number and report her page.

People watch too much movies, slap random big words and say they got details, ip details. She wouldn’t know what an ip address or subnet mask if it slapped her right in the face.

Online Atrueyorkie

This too. Not only is the bitch dumb with implicating herself in the “allegedly” illegal content. Shes the dummy who would be implicated by creating and supplying it haha.

Then ontop blackmail. If that’s in writing, her blackmail attempt, screenshot it. She’s dumb as hell, a chancer who is preying someone is more stupid than her.

Sounds like she's full of shit.

That's not the case but the OP really shouldn't worry about it as he's done nothing wrong.

Online Mr Garmin

Knowing an IP doesn't make it possible to access the address details without the likes of the police getting the necessary authority to make the provider reveal it and even then many IP's are not static and are dynamically allocated particularly if you're on a phone and moving around.

As far as I'm aware an exception to this is when the IP address is associated with a website.  For example, I have a customer who, if you Google their IP address takes you to their business website.  This is the case with many large organisations in particular.

The only thing I can think this cam girl might have done, so if your both caming, and pleasuring yourselfs.  She could record your session, but your ip address wont be known to her

But if there a recording out there then thats a different matter, but if she hasn't contacted you, unlikely anything will come out of this

The OP indicates she used an API so she could easily have his IP address.

And you're afeared that the police will do what with that, precisely?

Police:  'And what is your involvement in this complaint, madam?'
Complainant: 'I was the person who was selling him the services claimed to be illegal, and who then tried to extort money from him'

It's just doesn't survive a few moment's serious consideration does it?

No, you got it wrong
How so?

That doesn't answer my question. I said only your ISP has access to your details, you said that's not the case.

Many websites record your IP address, including UKP and Adultwork.com.

Even with that information, what details can someone find out?

Nothing to worry about. She wouldn't be able to do anything with your IP address alone... just ignore the bitch.
Next time use a VPN for your piece of mind.

She's probably able to see your IP address
But the ISP will only identify you to the police if the police get a court order. And that would need very strong evidence of serious illegality.
She's more at legal risk  herself to accusations of blackmail.
Who is this girl and what software / website did you use to contact her?

One key point: is she over 18?

Yes she's over 18, software was OnlyFans initially, however did talk on telegram.
Both accounts are now gone after blocking them and nothing was paid

Yes you can get someones IP address by sending them a link to a server that tracks it.
Yes from an IP address anyone can find an approx location, like a town and the ISP.
Yes your ISP can track your IP address to physical address if also given an accurate timestamp and required to do so from a lawful authority.
No the police wont be interested or have time unless a very serious crime is reported and that report comes from a credible source.

Even if someone has your IP address, getting your approximate location is hit and miss at best. I use Gigaclear and my location often shows I'm in Oxfordshire, which is where Gigaclear's head office is located. I'm not anywhere near Oxfordshire.

Proving that someone having your IP address is worthless.

You're absolutely correct, I would be surprised.

But that still doesn't answer my question to you.

At the moment you're making statements you seem unwilling / unable to back up.

Offline MLawro93

You would be surprised.

With just your IP Address, you can't do much. Perhaps you could intimidate someone who is ignorant, but you need more information to actually cause harm.

Your ISP has the ability to connect the dots. Something like UKP or a random person having your IP Address doesn't help them do anything.
