Oh what a surprise an American venture capital firm with someone related to Donald Trump. If this goes ahead I expect the good ol' USA to be staging every World cup in the future

Its £30m if you sign up sign chop chop by whenever it is in Sept
If you don't vote yes for it you miss out
Bribery at its very finest

One country one vote
Some of the countries dont have a GDP of £30mill so an enormous sum of money
Of which about £300 will make it to support footy development
The rest evaporates in a puff of smoke
The Afcon countries are so bent its inevitable
They'll have already voted yes tripping over themselves to suck up to InfantiCunt

Q/ where is the capital of Zimbabwe ?
A/ Zurich

Dont be silly every year for 3 years
Each 4th year its the european championships

The sweaties i reck will have voted yes already
£30mill will help pay for undersoil heating to avoid pitches freezing
& fuck off floodlights as its dark from Nov to Feb
With 64 countries they may just manage to qualify

They haven't got the balls
The EU have been making noises about the (alleged) corruption of FIFA so with backing at Government level UEFA might fancy their chances.

I guess it's enough for the big guns from Europe to threaten them let's be honest, can you imagine a world cup without the big teams from Europe?

The world cup quailyfing stages, could be away to show, how serious UEFA are about this.  So the games go ahead as usual, but round one game, the teams dont play as required, but protest

Each team let each other score 10 or more goals, and the game ends in a draw,   15 - 15

Perhaps they could rename it "The World Series" and have the 50 American States compete, after all they invented the game and are the best anyway, just ask anyone they'll all tell you the same
Then to make it truly international perhaps invite a wild card foreign team like for instance Scotland if your Mum happened to be born there, you could then have 17 groups of 3 teams all competing in the initial group stages for 48 places in the 2nd group stage where it's whittled down to 32.

The initial group stage would see the top 2 from each group qualify plus the best 14 of the 17 last place teams or best 3rd place qualifiers as i'd prefer to call it, after all we only want winners right  ;)

Unfortunate I know but even this scenario would see Scotland fail to qualify even out of the initial group stage   :D

The above was widely quoted at lunchtime today.

BUT now at 1650; Apparently UEFA has just unanimously disagreed with Infant Terrible's proposal and will boycott the World Cup.

Like all other sports the French like to be in charge.
To be fair the French were the ones who tried to internationalise the game (Jules Rimet, Henri Delauney, etc) while the FA was doing it's level best to turn up it's nose at these beastly foreign types moving in on what they thought was their game.
European games were regarded as inferior in importance to domestic competition.
The upshot to this is that they dug their heels in when Manchester United were being penalised for the temerity to take part and possibly played a part in the Munich tragedy.

The statement made by UEFA today, I think it makes the points very well.

UEFA and its 55 member associations stand as one. We unanimously and unequivocally reject FIFA’s proposal to transfer ownership interests in the World Cup and other FIFA competitions to private investors.

The World Cup cannot be treated as an investment product. It is one of football’s greatest sporting legacies. It has been built over generations by players, national teams and supporters across every continent. No part of it should ever be surrendered to private investors. The World Cup is not for sale.

It is both irresponsible and indefensible that a proposal of such significance for football was conceived in secret and brought to the brink of approval without any meaningful consultation with those entrusted with stewarding the game. This is not merely a profound failure of leadership, but an abdication of FIFA’s duty as the custodian of world football.

National associations around the world are now presented with an ultimatum: accept the irreversible capture of football’s greatest competitions or bear the consequences. This is not a “democratic decision”, but governance by intimidation – an act of coercion unworthy of an institution entrusted with the stewardship of the global game.

But our opposition goes far beyond process.

The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in FIFA competitions, football changes forever. Commercial return becomes a permanent obligation. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, every decision on the international calendar, every decision on competition formats and every decision shaping the future of football is no longer driven by what best serves the game, but by what best serves shareholders.

This model has no place in world football. Football’s future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return. Nor can the interests of national associations, leagues, clubs, players and supporters become subordinate to investor returns. Football cannot mortgage its future for financial gain.

Europe’s position is clear. We will never lend this model our legitimacy. No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation.

As a result of today’s discussion, no UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership.

Nobody should be in any doubt: UEFA and its national associations will oppose these plans with absolute determination.

There are moments when institutions are judged not by what they are prepared to accept, but by what they refuse to compromise. This is one of those moments.

Some things are simply too important to sell. The FIFA World Cup belongs to football. It always will. And so long as Europe has a voice, it will never be for sale.

Normally I consider UEFA as an unrelated to reality, money grabbing cunts with little to very little intrest in the game at the lower level. On this, they are right on point and should be applauded.

"No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation." What a line!

Hats off to UEFA, or to whoever wrote the ChatGPT prompt .

It really seems that football was going down the wrong path with the crazy ticket pricing, hydration brakes and 30 minute half time show for the final. These things would probably end up being the norm if the sport is sold to private equity.

FIFA was corrupt under Blatter with host nations passing money under the table. But at least Blatter didn't interfere with the football happening on the pitch, whereas Infantino has introduced all this shit and overruling red card decisions. They even set the groups up so the top 4 seeds would meet in the semis (which happened) which is something never done before, although that feels minor relative to everything else.

I'm glad UEFA are taking such a strong stance now. I think the deals Infantino had planned have been torpedoed by this, who wants a world cup without England, France, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Germany and several others. (I was going to add Italy to the list, but they've been boycotting the World Cup for a while now anyway!).

It will be further dead with the African and Asian confederations follow suit, and will really underline the game is not for sale.

Part of me wishes Kushner and Co spent their billions on FIFA, then the footballing nations walked away and set up under a new organisation.

CONCACAF is basically The America's most of whom have no love for the US, with the possible exceptions of Venezuela and Argentina. It's the African Confederation that keeps Infantino in power.

FiFa presidential vote takes place around Nov 2026, and before the world cup kicked of, Gianni Infantino had around 200 FiFa members who wouild vote for him

At the moment, there are no other runners for the presidential vote, and Gianni Infantino, is the only currently standing

With Gianni Infantino suggestion of some sort of shares, and now oppostion towards this, I think his chances of getting re-elected are slim.  But we still dont have a challenger, to challenge Gianni Infantino, to be the president of FiFa,

So think come Nov, we will see someone come forward and challenge Gianni Infantino, and the next vote takes place 18 Mar 2027. So it looks like Nasser Al-Khelaifi has best chance of toppling Fifa president and ending World Cup sell-off plan, supported by UEFA

Perhaps Egypt (after the Argentina match farce) might start a revolt ?

I'm sure UEFA could come up with a fund as  a bung development cash
