Harry Kane was nowhere near the ball, he kicked the underside of the players leg which then pushed that leg onto the ball, why can't he just accept that it was a foul like everyone else. Yes it wasn't deliberate but neither was the tackle for the red card, doesn't mean it isn't a foul.

I'm sure many can remember a time when Kane's attempt on the ball would have been seen as an honest and straightforward challenge with no malicious intent so no foul.  Likewise the red card would have been seen as clumsy, but not malicious, probably a yellow.

Great game but I wish they'd dump Shearer, great footballer but shite commentator / pundit. He comes out with some crap what with his 'if a player feels a touch he's entitled to go down' then him saying Mexico should never have had a penalty.

Sorry to appear to contradict Davie again, but I think Shearer is a good commentator; he's credible, experienced and easy to listen to.  They need to dump Rooney; I can't understand a word he says  :unknown:

A ridiculous decision against Harry Kane it was a 50/50 ball he was entitled to contest it but the Mexican made the most of of it. The red card was unlucky as Quansah made contact with the ball but his leg rode over the top of the ball. Once again the Mexican made the most of it

Why do you care? :unknown:

I don't I just find it laughable that it's anyone but England with the Scottish football fans.
Do English tennis fans cheer for anyone Andy Murray played against or cheered for anyone Chris Hoy raced against in cycling although to be fair when Andy Murray won he was British but when he lost he was Scottish  :D

The ref was appalling - not the red card or penalty - although note he needed VAR help on both
The first Mexican goal came from a very dubious free kick and AFAIK no Mexican was booked for the mob that surrounded the ref after the England penalty award or the near brawl that erupted on the touchline and onto the pitch after the Quansah tackle The final 11 minutes of extra time became nearer 13 without obvious reason - apart from allowing another Mexican corner

that is of course an AI image - Trump would never allow VAR to interfere in his decisions

even worse with Rice collecting a yellow last night another in either of the next two games will means he misses a game and Henderson would be the obvious replacement

Tbh I don’t think we’ve had too much difficulty cheering on English athletes representing Britain either, not heard too many Scot’s cheering against Hamilton, Joshua or Fury recently, or Redgrave, Wiggins, Henman, Christie or Thompson in the past.

It’s the football team, first and foremost, that irritates us.  It’s where the most obnoxious and arrogant elements come out.  The Jimmy Hill effect if you like.

The red cards probably should have an appeal process, and Balogun's red was bullshit.  But like Ronaldo pre-world cup it’s corrupt FIFA playing favourites

However, if a player is shown a yellow card in both the Round of 32 and Round of 16 stages, they will be suspended for the team’s quarter-final game.

Similarly, if a player is booked in either the Round of 32 or Round of 16, and then again in the quarter-final, they will miss the semi-final through suspension.

But given the amnesty after the quarter-final stage, a yellow card in the semi-final will not rule a player out of the final.

The Paraguayan players were a disgrace
The ref gave them the confidence to continue this through the match becoming more confident applying their disgraceful antics

South American teams have cheating in their DNA
The last time an oppo player scored two in the Azteca it was Maradona against England, one good one bad
The Mexicans must have wasted 5 mins or more relentless arguing with & harrassing the ref
Crack on look how far it got you  ;)

Brazil unfurled their cheating ensemble against the Vikings they can off you fuck too

Argentina haven't really engaged in this yet, they haven't needed to so far yet it is lurking below the surface waiting to breach

FA considering appeal after Quansah red card

So they should:

  • it'll bring the laughable USA player let off into more focus & roll things on
  • they may get a result

As for Starmer wanting to leave it to FIFA i strongly agree
In that please don't get involved
Trumpy thinks that Starmer is irrelevant snivelling scaredy-cat & probably a bender
At least he'll have more time to go see The Rear Gunners next season gratis

He wont try; he will just ignore it as he has so many votes from South America, Africa and Asia in his pocket + Saudi Money

Be interesting to see how many empty seats there are at the remaining matches though

Lose interest?  He’s been pretty disinterested generally, has he even attended a match?

I really don’t understand people trying to make the politics of this World Cup about anything other than FIFA, an organisation that has been corrupt as long as it has existed.

As far as the red cards go, the Balogun red card actually looked like a wrong decision, Balogun has possession and the Bosnian player takes him from behind and causes Balogun to fall and, as a consequence, stand on his ankle.  There’s no challenge by Balogun (foul or reckless) and if there was any foul play it was by the Bosnian who initiates the contact, but I don’t think he’s committed a foul either I’d honestly see it as just an unfortunate incident in a contact sport.

The US are at liberty to appeal the decision, but FIFA should have told them there was no mechanism to overturn the decision.  It’s FIFA's problem if they invent a process to do so - as they did with Ronaldo's pre-WC red card.

As for England appealing the Quansah card, there’s no comparison.

Pretty much agree on the football side but for me the biggest issue has been the shocking treatment of the Iranian team .
Quite obvious that every effort was made to make sure they were unable to progress in the tournament.
And FIFA just ignored it.
Thank fuck the Yanks are out.
I think they'd be even more unbearable winners than England.

Well yes perhaps as a few of the big names have already fallen by the wayside as the smaller teams have beaten them, this is in England's half of the draw where we've already seen Brazil get dispatched by Norway, could Argentina be next  :unknown:

Sometimes the big sides do get turned over, I know Argentina won it last time but they still lost to Saudi Arabia in the group stage 4 years ago

I honestly don't know why Argentina don't use him as an impact sub .
A bit like Ronaldo with Portugal.
Covering for Messi's lack of tracking back is bound to have an impact on the rest of the team's physical condition and this WC is going to be a particularly gruelling one on that score.
And they had 120 minutes against Cabo Verde already.
