So Argentina qualify for R016.

A historical perfomance from Cape Verde. A country with just 530K people, taking the reigning champions to extra time on their World Cup debut.

Coming back from behind TWICE, with one ridiculous goal in extra time perhaps they almost scored third but got unlucky. They can be extremely proud of what they've done here. :hi:

So the Mexico v England game now reverts back to it's original kick off time after consultation with the English and Mexican football associations. What a shambolic organisation Fifa are

Yeah it was being quoted that the change to 7pm was confirmed but i'm never 100% convinced of anything until the dust has settled.

Apparently both Mexico and England complained about the change for various reasons including the fact that some people would have flights coming in a few hours before KO and wouldn't be able to change them so would end up missing the game and there was likely to be a last minute panic for 1000's trying not to be late etc

As it is I can see the game being pushed back or stopped for a couple of hours until storms pass, perhaps 7am Monday morning would be more likely  :D

The blazers at Fifa dont give a fuck about fans
They'll be on PJs with the best hotels block booked before fixtures are announced
Not in their thinking that fans could miss the match at best have a very stressful journey

Stop start storm delays could suit England allowing them recovery time
Good luck to the fans if it lashes it down

Been reported for days that they would do this, as they did with Ecuador ..... hopefully the suits have worked out how to make sure the players aren't disturbed .....

Offline webpunter

& the team hotel being surrounding by home fans determined to keep the players awake
As happened to Ecuador
I cant see the Mexican police enforcing a wide enough perimeter & fans could fire bang type rockets from further afield

Its in their nature the feckless cheating cunts
Cheating is a south american past time

This problem emanates from giving the world cup albeit shared to a 3rd world country
& a dangerous one at that
On one side the Govt is corrupt & on the other side there are the drugs cartels with private armies
Watch Sicario best to watch in order 1st & 2nd

A clueless decision by FIFA to have Mexico be one of the host countries
No one in their right mind would do this so there must be inducements one way or another

Offline webpunter

As for keeping the hotel secret
There'll be links on social media with incentives to detail where England are
Plus the team has to travel to training easy to follow them back to the hotel

Are you calling Newcastle's first trophy in over 50 years a Micky mouse cup. Not sure their fans will be pleased with that description  :unknown:

Mexico is not South America.
And you're seriously recommending watching a Hollywood film to gain an insight into Mexican politics?

Its a good film, who cares if Hollywood made it or paid for it, there is so much money to be made from drugs it ends up influencing politics, in Mexico and the US, its not a documentry, but it has a lot of truth IMO

Since we're recommending Mexican films, check out Amores Perros and Y Tu Mama Tambien

I'm not saying it's not a good film.
It was the suggestion that it was akin to a factual documentary.
Hollywood almost always has an agenda.
And not just making money.
It's selling a narrative.

When I was just a little boy,
I asked my mother what should I be,
Should I be Chelsea,
Should I be Leeds,
Here's what she said to me;

Wash yer mouth out son,
And go and get your fathers gun,
And shoot the Chelsea scum,
Shoot the Chelsea scum,

We hate Chelsea,
We hate Chelsea,
We hate Chelsea...

Scootland should be full of hope
The next WC could be 60 teams
Just maybe you'll get out of the group
That'd be a 1st  ;)

Cape Verde is akin to the Shetland & further out Islands
Look how far they got
The players growing up with next to nowt - trainers for footy ? lekky ?
They've got footy & athletic ability & most importantly desire

The pale skinned sweaties do have to contend with having to apply factor 50 fair enuf
The country is in darkness Nov - Feb
Seasonal Affective Disorder
This usually is seen in Nordic countries tho as the Scots can be such dour miserable fuckers i can see the connection

Scootland is the country with the highest % of ginger whingers per capita
Have you found that ginger burds have smelly minges ? [thats assuming you've shagged a civvy  :unknown:]

Yet again FIFA lies
They've been doing it all along price gouging at the start

So four Mexican fans die as a result of very poor organisation
& this is when they won an easy 2-0
Crushed asphyxiation

So what happens to the England fans if they lose ?  :scare:
All things considered best if England lose for the sake of the fans well-being

There is expected to be roadblocks and increased security around England’s hotel after Mexican fans kept Ecuador’s players awake the night before their last-32 game

Expected  the feckless lazy mexican security won't turn up as its in the country's interest

The country is a sink hole not much better than Honduras Guatemala
& FIFA green light them its in their locker to be a bunch of cunts

Yeah thats true, but in the other hand, I don't really see Villeneueve as a typical Hollywood director, like Nolan, he's made so much money, he can kind of do what he wants, and yes I do understand the agenda

There is a very good film about Northern Ireland called "71" like Sicario, its not a true story, not a documentary, but it has a lot of truth, groups of people standing in a circles, stabbing each other in the back, for nothing. and its excellent IMO

Anyway, back to football, I expect England to beat Mexico, however, it won't be easy, home advantage plus weather and altitude could well play a part, not working Monday, so I can watch this with a few beers

They deserve it indeed, they play better than England and most other teams, Spain are coming also stronger and stronger.

Brazil pretty poor though and Bruno’s penalty simply terrible. 🤷🏼

Really ? I thought it was a pretty poor first half; Haaland only 5 touches and none in the final third

It was always a likely scenario; he contributes very little most of the game then bang bang - and every sensible person would want him in their team
