April visit lined up.

Yes.  For that area and tier, Areca, Amethyst and LK Metropole get the most mentions.  Also Amber, but a bit more £ - depends on the deal and the week. I have not stayed in these, (I like to be by the beach), but i have heard good things about all 4.  YMMV.   Suggest to avoid LK president - it is on the wrong side of 3rd road. Acqua is comfortable, but I spoke to one guy who didn't like the location - a funny street.  It is quieter though.  Again, not stayed myself, just what I heard from one guy.

How long are you going for, the are some really good deals to be found on Air bnb for some of the apartment complexes if you are going for at least a month. I got a great deal at the Base Condo last year.

If you're not looking to shag yourself silly, why Pattaya rather than somewhere with more variety (like Bangkok, Samui or Phuket)?

Staying in Pattaya for 10 days. Will visit  koh larn for a couple of days trips, see the sanctuary of truth, there's bowling and cinema as well as the beach and bars. A few days in bkk on arrival and a few before I leave. Also going to koh samet for 5 days, stunning and restful.
I'm not a fan of Phuket. It has a different energy and is more expensive.

LK residence is pretty decent. Stayed a couple of times. Right next to LK metro and not far from tree town.  In your price range too

Looks a bit old fashioned for me. But thanks. Just found Vogue hotel. Super cheap. Central. And looks clean and modern.

I've stayed at Vogue, location wise it was good but my room itself was very tired looking with some water damage from a previously burst pipe on the walls. I have seen reports from others that praised it, so its possible i just got a bad room, but personally I wouldn't stay there again.

My mates at Vogue now said it’s not the best.
There’s loads of hotels in the area at various price levels, go on agoda or another similar site and have a look through imo

Vogue rooms are just ok, but poor breakfast and swimming pool isn’t good either

My last few trips to Pattaya I’ve stayed at the view talay 6 condo next to central Pattaya mall. There are a variety of rooms for different budgets, I’ve had the jacuzzi bathroom in the past but never really get value use out of it! The advantage of a condo room I find over a hotel room is slightly bigger space, a kitchen which again I don’t put to full use but is handy to have if only to have some toast! And my biggest factor is bringing back 2,3 ladies you’re not hampered with an extra ‘joiner fee’ as hotels will likely clobber you for any more than 1 extra guest! The location is slap bang in the middle of 2nd road… walk through one end and your on beach road, the other cross the road to Soi made in Thailand/tree town/ Soi Buakhaw. There are multiple agencies to book through as well as booking.com.

Got a mate who lives in one of the apartments there. You can't beat it for location. His condo is quite high up and quite close to fronting beach road, but I'm told that there are many condo's which aren't so nice; low level and facing 'the garage'?

He tells me that sometimes he struggles to get girls to visit as there is a belief that the building is 'haunted' due to the number of people that have fallen / jumped over the years. Is that something that you have experienced?

Personally I would always recommend that a newbie to Pattaya stays in a hotel for their first few visits, for no other reason than security.

In my past 14 trips in 4 years, I have always stayed in " LK The Empress ". I like the big sized rooms and brilliant staff. Location is great, beach road, walking distance to many places or a quick 2 min bike ride (Bolt App). The tip is, you need to check prices on their official website, they do weekly discounted rates (breakfast is included) and should be just about £50 a day. A lot of other hotels do weekly discounts too, I was told. Enjoy your Trip.. I am planning mine in April..  they have a water fun festival called Songkran between 13-Apr and 19-April, if you want to try that.
