Author Topic: How do people manage punting funds.  (Read 3164 times)

Offline Cliveyboy

Hi, When I decided I was going to pluck up the courage to punt, I decided it was going to be just the one off as the whole logistics of it seemed a bit overload. I've now got everything in place and had a bit of a dry run and realised it's not as daunting as I first imagined. I must admit everthing is planned with military precision and I'm happy I'll get away with it. I milked off the funds by telling the other half I was buying general bits and pieces off people at work. In reality it's all stuff I already had and she never knew about. When I run out of stuff to 'buy', I'm going to have to be more creative. Currently I'm the only one who works so I sort all the money out. I've gone paperleass so there's no statements and I manage all the banking stuff like bill payments using the banking app which she has no access to. Also she has no cards on the account as the bank won't issue her a card without her providing suitable photo ID. But just in case, I still don't want transactions showing on there that look suspicious. I have a savings ISA and regularly transfer funds from the current account into that so there are regular transfers out to an account with my name which she is aware of. About a year ago I created a Revolute account with a virtual card. I use it to pay for stuff online that I want to keep secret. I realised that when I topped up the revolute account, it came up on my bank transaction list as a transfer and appeared exactly the same as when I transfer cash to my ISA. The only telltale sign is the account number, but in the banking app that's hidden unless you go into the transaction. Considering how little she wants to get involved in the finances, I think it's worth the risk of slipping in a transfer to Revolute. I allways transfer the same amout so it'll blend in, I'll obviously have to apply to Revolute for a physical debit card (which I'll have delivered to work) so I can withdraw cash from an ATM. There may be a better way to do it, but I think at the moment this is my only way.

Does anyone else have to be creative to milk off punting funds?

It would be interesting to hear other peoples strategies.

Offline FLYING BLUE

Very difficult for me because due to lot's of personal stuff (which I will not go into), I pretty much get a monthly 'allowance' from my adult kids.
Suddenly spending £200 a month more than normal can lead to questions which would force me to lie, something I am now keen to do.
Complex eh :)

What a great idea, post on the internet the ways punters in a relationship syphon off funds to see escorts for all to see. It'll be all over other sites before you can blink.

This is as bad as the one asking where people hide their punting phones.

Not trying to catch someone out are you?

Do you never withdraw cash on your main account?
Surely withdrawing £100 for nights out, then only spending £70 lets you squirrel away the odd £30?

In all honesty, if you can't work out a way to squirrel some aside I'd say:

a) You have the wrong partner
b) You may be better off not getting into this hobby

You've written that as though it's a joint account and you have combined finances, but then you say you handle everything and it sounds like it's an account in your name only. It would be quite important which it is? Does she have her own account(s)? Or any source of money separate from you?

Not an issue for me as I'm single, but I just don't understand why couples leave 1 person in so much control of finances. And also, unless money is really tight (and that would mean I couldn't afford this hobby) why 1 partner would question the others spending?

For me I keep some cash on hand incase I fancy something expensive that I couldn't cover from an ATM, if possible some English notes as some SP's prefer them. Either touring SP's or if I'm in England.

Lol. No. Just wondering. Seems like I keep making controversial posts as someone thought I was a journalist before. Lol.

Yea I do that as well. Also tell her I bought a round and it was quite expensive. I even told her we'd gone for a curry when we hadn't.  We keep a float of cash in the house that we both dip into, but she knows roughly what's in there.

Offline MLawro93

I maintain a separate account purely for fun money. Lets me accurately understand how much I'm spending, as I don't use it for anything else.

Its not complicated at all, but then again, I don't have to look over my shoulder  :D

She has an account of her own as that's where her benefits get payed into, The main account is a joint account, but that's only because if something happens to me, there won't be any issues for her getting the money. I earn the bulk of the money so she lets me deal with it as she's crap with money, but she does as from time to time how our finances are going. She used to help sort out stuff, but after she'd forget to pay off the credit card and lumber us with multiple strikes on our credit rating and additional penalty charges and interest, she thought it best to leave it to me. I very rarely go out so not much opportunity for building up punting cash.

That was me. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck . . . . . . . . .

What amazes me is there's been a lot of comments recently about the massage section no longer being only visible to members as that allows massage parlour owners to see which members of their staff offer extras then dismissing them, yet here we are posting all the ways married members can stash cash without their partners knowing.

Crazy.

Offline Stevelondon

Oh alright. Can’t speak for everyone of course. But I personally withdraw from any one of the bank accounts there is with my name on it. Spend as much as I want and if anyone queries what I did with the cash I simply say I’ve been drinking more than usual.

It’s a ploy that’s completely fail safe.

The only downside is you actually do have to drink quite a lot in the first place and get used to smelling like a brewery all the time.

Hic !!

Tbh I'm not interested in your personal finances, and I'm not sure what your motives are for going into such detail.

Members in relationships will manage their punting funds in a variety of ways, and they're not likely to give details to a stranger on the internet.

We look forward to your reviews. :hi:

I think my motive is to pick up some ideas about what other people. Do regarding accumulating punting money. Maybe something I hadn't thought of myself. Regarding the info dump, that's a manifestation of my ADHD. I do tend to communicate in a very matter of fact way and definitely overshare.I think in future I'll not ask any questions as I seem to be rubbing people up the wrong way. And as regards to reviews, I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with others and pay back the value I've already gained from other people's reviews.

I appologise for my inappropriate post and will just keep my questions to myself. For some reason, I thought this area was members only. My bad. Regarding Access to the massage section. I had access to that briefly before I was a member. I didn't realise it was meant to be restricted.

What's ND?  You can use a Revolute Debit card in an ATM.

If you’ve got ADHD, you’d 100% know what ND means, unless you’re lying and just making an excuse for the ignorance in your post 🤔

The whole site is open to anyone who wants to look at it, there are some restrictions but threads like this are openly viewable to wives, girlfriends, non members or anyone else and this site gets quite a bit of adverse publicity on sites like the one women use to ask questions about what their 'DH's, as they call them, are up to.

It's up to you if you want to ask questions just as it's up to others if they want to answer them, no matter if I or others think it's rather silly to say the least.

Ok, thank you for your advice. I realise the naivety of my question now and will think twice before asking questions.

Feel rather sorry for you missus.

Anyhoooo .... reverse money laundering is what you are talking about.

1 - Buy something for 150 quid on your card and sell it on FB cash. Sell anything on FB market place.
2 - Mate is buying something, you buy it, and he gives you the cash.
3 - Buy a prepaid travel card at the post office. Pull the cash out
4 - Online shopping - on each shop you buy a gift card the quart the cost of your punts. Click and collect and pull the amount of shopping out in cash at the ATM, and use the vouchers to buy the shopping.
5 - If you get expanses with work have them paid into a separate discreet bank account.
6 - Sow the seeds (quite rightly!) that you are against the central bank digital currency and you will now only do everything in cash. You are then legitimately pulling out lots of cash each month and you tuck a score away now and then.
7 - Petrol Station / Supermarket cashback. Buy a beer, 20 notes cash back. Shows as Sainsbury on your bank statement.
8- SkyBet - add 2 cards to your account. Have a flutter once a week for 25 quid means you put it in one card and when you want to punt, transfer the cash to your other card. might need to do a few 10p spins though.
9 - Round up apps - round up your daily spending and then transfer that to your other bank.

That should keep you going for a bit until your wife reads all of this on not allowed and the daily mail.

Thanks, this is exactly the reply I was hoping for. I now have multiple ways to get cash for punting. I may have over shared with my original post and am regretting it, but I'm learning from my mistakes.

I don’t see any reason whatsoever for not sharing IF you feel happy to or think you have any clever strategies and want to share them.

Why? Not everyone but almost everyone snaffles money away or siphons off money for one reason or another. Could be for anything but your missus or kids could be just as likely to have their sneaky little vices or penchant for expensive or illegal stuff you might disapprove of.

Just about normal human nature in the western world!

Anyone who thinks posting information on here is without consequences should read this 16 page thread about Clienteye, - https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=300677.0 -  the app SPs report dodgy punters on. At one time anyone could put their phone number into the app and see all reports that had been made against it, but as a direct result of that thread they put a stop to that, then as a 'work-a-round' was posted they closed those loopholes as well.

Now instead of being able to see any reports made about you any number put in shows as having 1 report but doesn't give details.

Offline lewisjones23

If someone is too thick to be able to secure some funds away from their other half then they shouldn't be punting, only a matter of time until they are caught out

Offline Munter84

Maybe this says more about me, but I find the idea of my finances being an open book for a partner to look at, query and scrutinise, to be Orwellian. Assuming I earned the money (I do), whose business is it if I withdraw cash for ANY reason? That's not the kind of relationship I'd want and it chills me to think it's apparently common.

Anyway - this topic's been done before, I'm sure OP can find the previous thread with a search. Also hamchang lists most of the decent possibilities above. Just to add, I once had a mate who did cash-in-hand DIY work for beer money, no reason you couldn't do that, or if you're not the handyman type perhaps sell things on Facebook Marketplace for cash?

Many excuses to use, withdraw money for car wash, fuel, carboot sale, borrowed a mate some cash etc

I always had many debit 2-3 debit cards barely used that can be used to withdraw cash from
