Author Topic: Image sizing/ viewing on AW  (Read 1462 times)

Some gallery images open in a small picture that you can enlarge to full screen or enlarge by zooming using your fingers, but in the case of some AW profiles the images open to a large full screen image straight away making it hard to see the thing clearly, sometimes so large you have to then try to shift around to see it, but the image is then blurred.

Is this a factor of the way the AW profile owner has loaded the images, or is it something I can address at the viewing end/ my end?,

I can find no settings that would seem to address the issue so it seems to be the way the images have been uploaded by the profile owner?

Any thoughts?

It is annoying when that happens. I always browse AW on a PC and I've found that I can resize the image using ctrl - however I then have to set it back using ctrl + otherwise the main page is tiny.

Some images have resizing tabs below and I find that selecting 'fit to window' makes the image viewable.

I always thought it was down to how the profile owner has downloaded it. Perhaps a service provider member can answer this.  :unknown:
Like Mr Garmin says some photos have a box underneath them where you can re size them to full screen.

Thanks.
The problem I am describing is an image that opens immediately to full screen - enlarged to even bigger than full screen- so the little box for selecting 'view full screen' and 'view image owner's profile page' doesn't come up at all.

It does, it's just not within view. If you click to make the window full screen (little icon between the x and - icons, top right of window) there will then be up/down and left/right navigation bars so you can scroll to the bottom centre of the image where the buttons are. I hope that makes sense.

I know what you’re getting at but the OP is on about when you have NO resizing option. The image simply opens up full size.

That's true for the main photos but the ctrl +/- trick still works for them

It's the gallery pictures that should have the resizing tab underneath the picture

it is down to the resolution of the picture uploaded by the SP.

I think AW reduce the size of the 3 profile pics if they are bigger than allowed (although clicking opens them fullsize.)

I'm not sure if it was an AW update, or a browser update, but it used to be my if a picture was too big for my screen the browser window would reduce it in size in the window, but it suddenly stopped doing that. It also used to let me scroll left/right up/down on the really big pictures - that stopped as well, unless I reduce the size of the pop up picture window.

if the window is too big & I can't see the close/reduce/minimise buttons, I double click in the header bar of the photo & that reduces it slightly to fit the screen but then I may still have to scroll round to see the fun bits  ;)

If you're using a PC and have used ctrl + or - to resize an image, a quick way to return the whole lot to 100% is by clicking ctrl 0 (ctrl plus zero).

It is excellent to see quite a flow of useful input, thanks, this is clearly a well known issue.

It does seem to be the way the SP has uploaded the image, I have no idea what the input processes are when an SP loads their photos. it clearly isn't a standard sizing that would filter out this issue.

The best solution so far identified seems to be using ctrl + and - to alter the page sizing, but you have to them adjust it back to normal afterwards.

I use my phone and the phone version of AW.

I go on a profile and if I like what I see or read the rate to be I click “tip”

This opens the new version of AW

I then look at the gallery

Then look at profile pics

I then click close on top left

Continue back in phone mode.

For me this is the best way to view photos on the phone

Does the AW Civiliser plugin not resolve a lot of this for you?

Offline georgegeorge

If you're using Firefox go to about:config (i.e., type that in the address bar) - you'll get a warning and click 'Accept the risk and continue' then search for the setting 'browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction' and set this value to 0.

This forces any image to open in a new tab - it doesn't resize the photo (and I have really deep-dived trying to find a solution to this) - but the advantage of this is that instead having to scroll left and down, etc. to try and find the 'Fit to window' button that button is now always by default centre screen after a couple of quick scrolls down so it's 75% better than before.

That's the next best option after AW Civiliser as posted above.

Dunno if this helps

For example External Link/Members Only

It’s how I do it on any oversized free gallery photo….. or movie pic

Basically press and hold on an iPhone or tablet
