The shop is accessed via a side entrance, and I was greeted by an older Thai lady who took my payment. After a short wait, my masseuse arrived. She was a larger Thai woman—not to my taste, but I went ahead with the massage anyway.
The session began with no oil and quite an intense, physical approach. It felt more like wrestling than a massage, with her pulling and stretching me into various positions. I know Thai massages are typically firm, but this felt excessive.
Eventually, she applied a deep heat-style oil that made me feel like I was prepping for a football match rather than relaxing. I was hoping for a more soothing experience, maybe even something visually pleasant to help ease the discomfort, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case either.
When I turned over, the massage continued just as vigorously. She did ask if I wanted “extras,” but the lack of enthusiasm and my overall experience made it easy to decline.
She wiped me down at the end—oddly, with no lingering smell of the strong oil used earlier—and I got dressed to leave. On my way out, I noticed a petite Thai girl who seemed more my type, which made me briefly consider giving the place another shot… maybe.
Overall, it wasn’t the relaxing experience I was hoping for. If you’re after a traditional, very firm Thai massage, this might be for you—but it wasn’t for me.
