Mr Shy raises a good point.
Anticipation is a vastly underrated word here.
Booking in advance………. You have all that time to anticipate what is going to be like. Gotta get a buzz out of it surely.
Booking on the hoof……… Your making contact, getting the confirmation. Not so long to anticipate things but it’s still there.
I’ve long thought that it’s this anticipation feeling that plays a greater part in punting than we might think.
The excitement growing.
But it might be a two edged sword.
On arrival that feeling may now be subsiding and for all kinds of reasons. You’re just not feeling it as much as you thought you would be.
Far too many reasons enter into this train of thought.
If it’s someone new your meeting. She might look different from her pics. The room is untidy. There’s a smell. You’re worried about where you parked. Etc Etc.
I’m sure I’ve turned up somewhere on occasions and felt not quite up to it……… rarely but just maybe.
The trick I use is thinking about the £200 I’ve just handed over and for some strange reason only known to a greater power. I miraculously feel like getting it on.
