The new owners of the old TWL building put a message on another board stating that they were open to offers on the place. It seemed strange as they had only been open for a couple of weeks.
I'm guessing they may have had a visit from the local plod who've told them that they didn't want the place being opened up again as a parlour. Only other reason could be that a couple of heavies have turned up demanding protection money or wanting the place shut down.
You might be right about GMP (or someone else) paying a visit.
On the other hand it could just have been a bad launch. They only ever had a skeleton website (still going)
External Link/Members Only and I don't remember seeing anything on other sites you might expect to see it promoted. The place itself is well off the beaten track, so it doesn't get noticed (unlike fairly recently opened Diamond Dollz on busy Cheetham Hill Road). I only noticed it as an LM regular who used to swing down Badger Street occasionally out of idle curiosity to see what had happened to TWL premises.
I can imagine that someone thought it would be "money for old rope" to open a parlour, but after a month or so they still weren't making enough after covering the overheads to make it worth the risk of doing 6 years for "living off immoral earnings". You wouldn't be able to keep desirable women on the rota if there is no-one coming through the door. Then even less people come through the door and more women leave the rota.
In mid 90's there were 80+ parlours advertising in MEN - now down to perhaps under 40 in GM overall and the ones that have been around for years have had time to make changes, invest slowly and establish their reputations over a long time.
If I was a Dragon from Dragons Den, I'd say the parlour market is declining and already consolidated. Anyone that opens a parlour in GM now probably has to get it right from Day 1 or fail pretty quickly.
So if no heavies or GMP came knocking - economics probably did the job for them.
