No punting phone? Beware

The national system for sending emergency alerts to mobile phones in the UK will be tested again this September, the government has said.

It will see compatible phones vibrate and make a siren sound for 10 seconds while displaying a message at 15:00 BST on 7 September, even if they are set to silent.

And if you do have a punting phone, make sure it's well out of wife/partners earshot!

Surely the title is wrong as it shouldn't be an issue if the alert comes through to your 1 and only main personal phone but it will be an issue if you have a punting phone

I suspect the vast majority of us have burner phones in a drawer somewhere so if you don’t want the alert it may be best to have the phone switched off completely that day (though I believe there will also be an opt out setting).

Just turn the alerts off in the phone settings and you won't get any of them.

Hey all,

Make sure if you have a burner phone, it is quiet or off at this time or it will make a noise that may alert someone to the existence of it!!

Having it on silent doesn't stop the alert, read the above posts.
