As I am nearly 83 and still having the odd dabble with a massage therapist I started to wonder about the total cost of my hobby over some 35 years. Started with f/s "massage" parlours in Liverpool visiting once or twice a week before about 12 years ago discovering the joys of Chinese and Thai massages with happy endings and body to body. Has anyone else tried to calculate what they have spent over the years? When I did ...I gave up when the figure became too frightening but guess what I would do it all over again. In fact just booked in next week with a Chinese masseuse.

Good on yer mate….. I’ve just completed my 1st 12 months as a punter and don’t reckon I’m much short of £10k deep so god knows what 35 years cost. Don’t regret any of it though and had the time of my life.

Keep on keeping on  :drinks:

We've had similar punting history and started about the same time in the Liverpool 'Parlours'.
We've probably passed each other like ships in the night in between appointments.

As for counting the cost, I think I'd rather not. :)

By my reckoning i'm almost 23 years in and started slowly with a punt every 2 or 3 months which became every month; every 3 weeks; twice a month etc and i'm currently blowing any inheritance more like twice a week.  :drinks:
I've had times when i've not punted much as i've lost my Mojo but currently i'm punting more than I ever have  :drinks:

I've done the calculation / guestimation before and I must be up around 800 punts now, if you assume current costs are relative then I must be in for around £70K
I've been robbed once and walked away after a shit experience far too many times with buyers remorse, the majority of punts are probably a bit Meh and fade in the memory quickly but it's those occasions where you walk away after a really decent experience walking on cloud 9 that makes it all  :yahoo: and worthwhile

So would I do it all again, hell yeah baby

I am 88, nearing 89. I didn't start paying regularly till 11 years ago. For the first few years I was at it once or twice a week. now just once. it has been money well spent - I shouldn't think I've been really disappointed more than once or twice a year as I do my research very carefully and I know exactly what I want . I've never calculated what I've spent - a waste of time. I love whores, the kinkier the better so this isn't a substitute for what I don't get at home. It's what I prefer.

I mentioned on another thread recently I'd blown 28 grand over a six year period (2011-2017) That was probably the peak of my punting to be fair. There were a fair few years punting before that and obviously a good few since so I reckon I could probably double that figure. As I mentioned there though. I've not missed the money and certainly haven't gone without because of it.

Overall I see it as money well spent. Not every punt has been great, far from it to be honest but I enjoy it and life is a short thing.

I've no idea how much I've got through in only 7-8 years - but I could easily have bought a flashy car
(but would a flashy car give me as much pleasure, to say nothing of a cars running costs)

I seem to remember long-time board member Smiths estimating some years ago that he blew upwards of £50k per year on the hobby, and I was shocked

Jesus that sounds borderline impossible at £1k per week which is about 4 x 1 hour punts per week every week unless he was splashing the cash at the high end £500 per market.

I'm fast approaching 30 years in September.  I don't even want to think how much I've spent but I'd guesstimate it's 35k plus.
Started 1996 when and 30 minute punt was around £40. It used to paim me going to the more expensive places in Manchester for about £45. How times have changed

I started punting on and off from around 2016 if im remembering correctly, I've definitely spend well over 10k since then on the hobby.

I used to see x-amber-x basically on a monthly basis for years, so I know she alone has clearly been handed 5 grand just from my wallet , let alone all the other odd punts and a couple of other regulars.

But looking back on it all... I don't regret most of it!!

You've got to spend it on something, might as well enjoy yourself.

That's my thinking too, I don't want to be the richest man in the graveyard and I know anything I leave will be spent in double quick time and a fair portion of it living the high life

Hard to gauge how many punts I have had over the last 30+ years but at two a month on average that is more than 700 and it is likely to be more. All told I have probably spent about £50k, but you can’t take it with you, so c’est la vie. Started out paying about £40 and now it is more like £80 for half an hour.

Smiths is/was a often staunch, bordering repetitive, proponent of 'There's no correlation between price and quality-of-service' in the debate that periodically rears its head here. I just had a quick shufty through his recent reviews, and his most common experience, at least those reviewed, seems to be a 1/2 hr slot from £60-80 - so, yes, if that was typical, it would take some going to reach £50k pa. But he was prolific, often talked about his 'regulars', and given the restraints on posting repeat reviews, there's every reason to expect his 285 or so reviews represented <10% of his total punting.

It's easy enough to see how it can happen if money is no problem and you have a taste for it.

I remember my first punt,  in a flat above a shop in Preston near Lane Ends Pub, I had just picked up a bank loan for a small car, there was some money spare, that was 1992, what an afternoon that was!!

Ive been punting 40 years probably spent over 50k  but would i have the cash now or the memories .
Well tbh i think i wouldn't swap them memories for 250k so for me absolutely no regrets .
I have one rule and thats if any family members are in need they come first :hi:
