I am fortunate to live in a very posh part of town and one of the biggest joys of punting has been having an excuse to see other parts of London and to eat post-punt there - and almost without exception it is an eye-opener in a good way. People are just people just making their way in life like me, and the superficial shittiness or poshness of an area doesn't tell you much at all about the quality of the food, the warmth of many of the people, the profile and mix of the people who live there, safety and so on. I'm astonished to pay £5 for a lovely meal, served with a smile and to see people caring for their kids and possessions in the same way as me. Having said all that - Streatham and big bits of SE London are the only exception - something still lacking there!
The building is quite nice and the flat is obviously purely a working flat, no receptionist. The room and bed were clean and nicely decorated. Bathroom was immaculately clean and attractive, the shower warm and powerful, and towels were dry and seemed clean.
