Threatening call from angry pimp

This isn't the first time it's happened, similar happened around a year ago but I received a call yesterday from an angry pimp claiming I booked one of his girls for an outcall and then cancelled, costing him money and that if I didn't pay him he'd come to my house and kill me and my family. Thankfully I never do outcalls and hadn't even punted for a good few weeks so I knew instantly that this was nothing more than a scam and just laughed down the phone at him.

Not that I believe that the threats would have amounted to anything but it's a nice little reminder to always use a burner phone, never give out any real details and don't do outcalls to your own home or at least be incredibly selective about with who with.

Get an esim then. Most phones these days allow you to have a 2nd sim card or an esim. You can turn the line off when you don't need it and keeps your personal number private.

Well, this girl ended up on a brief video call with this dodgy looking bloke as I was getting dressed. I was sure my face was shown to him during this. I was then shitting myself for getting followed leaving incase of getting threatened/mugged/whatever.

I imagine we can become a bit less vigilant and careful over time, visiting and parking at less than savoury locations. In some ways part of the buzz but it’s probably sensible to try to use the big brain instead of the mini brain at times, just to keep safe/safer.

You're right about the number of threads like this, but I think it's still useful. Seeing how often this happens would make me worry much less if I ever got one of these calls / texts. Although that's unlikely as my punting phone is switched off.

They do have the ability to match phones that appear in the same cell together i.e. if your "real" phone and punting phone were frequently spotted on the same cell it would be traceable. But it would  need to be something major to make them do that

agreed but watch out. You can in theory get a hushed number for a week and use it to get a WA account. You can then ditch the hushed number so you dont have to pay for it, and WA account remains active. Eventually though the number will be recycled and if the new owner registers on WA with it, you can no longer get access to the account and all messages are routed to the new user (which might be interesting for them). If you keep the number forever or stop using it, no problem, but in the above scenario be careful.
