Wow so it’s been 10 years and you haven’t had any issues since? Hair thickness/density still the same? Experienced any shedding? Have you been taking any hair meds?
8,000 grafts that can’t be right? That’s way too much. Wow your baldness must have been quite bad I don’t think you are allowed to have 8,000 grafts in one sitting. I guess you had the Larry David look?
How long did it take before you started seeing hair growth post surgery? 9-12months? Have you been using any special products to help maintain your hair? Microneedling? Did the docs tell you whether you'll need to get a 2nd hair transplant in future or will 1 last you a lifetime?
Thanks I have shortlisted Elithair they seem to have a ton of positive reviews. Probably going to book a consultation with them this next week. I prefer to meet in person for an initial hair consultation but I guess it can only be done via Zoom unless they have a London office.
Just checked my files..it wasn't 8000 grafts but 4600, no where near, so apologies..it's because I was told numerous times I need about 8000 grafts for a perfect transplant over 2 sessions..maybe that's why the number 8000 is stuck on me..
You asked a lot of questions..I'll try and answer..
I was happy with the 1 x session. It depends on your hair, very difficult to explain without photos or pictures.
Every man has different balding pattern and it depends how much grafts you need. Me, personally, i was more like no.6 in the attached photo below. I was told I need a total of estimated 8000 grafts.
On my transplant day, I agreed with the surgeon to focus on my front, make the hairline nice, which he did.. and the rest of the grafts were put on my back. My entire back was obviously NOT done as they only got out 4600 grafts from my donor hair. I was happy with this because my hairstyle last 10 years is the same, I comb my hair back and have enough hair to cover the gaps at the back. I think it's fine for me, only when I'm swimming or theres strong wind, then you will see the last of my baldness, otherwise, my hairspray and good combing works fine and on events I use toppix to look extra better.
Yes, its been nearly 10 years..
My hair was already thinning before transplant over 10 years. After transplant, honestly, my hair was nice and thick the first year or 2, that's because I bought the recommend hair tablets the surgeon advised after the transplant, for very cheap in Turkey, 12 months supply. My friend and I believe this kept my hair thick.
I made sure i use shampoo with biotin also, but after 5 years, my hair started to get thin slightly, I wasnt losing hair, just a little bit of thinning. I then bought hair thickening oil and more tablets for another 6 months,
Again this helped and I left it.. another 4 years later, NOW..same thing, it's thinning again, no hair shedding though, so I once agin intend to buy more hair thickening tablets and shampoo.
I wasnt as bad as Larry David, I had a ball of hair in the front which kept shrinking.
Post surgery, it took about 7 or 8 months for my hair to grow and look good.
No microneedling, as already mentioned elithair wanted me to have a second transplant but as i already said, I'm satisfied with one. Also, I don't wanna go though the experience again. The actual surgery, the needles, the lying down for hours. The aftercare, how to manage it for the next 2 or 3 weeks. You have to be so careful, plus the sleeping for that first 2 or 3 weeks with neck cushion was so uncomfortable, can't sleep on left or right side, has to face ceiling.
My certificate says 50 year guarantee. I used the products recommended at the time of surgery 9 years ago. 3 x products, can't recall name but already mentioned i bought 1 year supply of the pills from a shop I researched and tablets i researched while in Istanbul and negotiated a deal with that pharmacy. Can't remember price but it was super cheap. I remeber googling the products on eBay and boots / superdrug website and in Turkey they were much cheaper.
Remember : 100s of people all over the world go turkey for transplants daily, there experts. I remember talking to a guy who came all the way from Brazil, and many other guys from all over Europe.
Co incidently Elithair contacted me last year (from Germany number) asking me if I would be interested for interview and photoshoot as they will launch a clinic (I think) in UK.
The shoot was in Manchester, I declined even though they offered to pay for travel. So maybe they have a UK clinic or consultancy.
I think i answered all your long list of questions. All the best
