I'm always full of nostalgia as I approach Swan Spa on Slater Street as it's opposite the famous Jacaranda club where I saw the original 5 Beatles play in 1960.

I've not been to Swan Spa since it opened about 6 years ago.
I remember it being quite plush then, but as I climbed the stairs to reach the reception area I noticed the place was looking a bit tired and drab.

However I was met by a friendly Thai masseuse who introduced herself as Jo.
A petite lady, probably in her 40s.

I think I paid £45 for an hour's 'soft ' massage.
I probably need to start making notes during the massage as it was a few weeks ago, but as I recall it was a pretty decent massage with plenty of teasing, and on turning over I agreed to pay and extra £30 for HJ HE.

The owner Kat was my go to masseuse for a couple of years when she was at Hatta in Smithdown rd. I havelived in Manchester now for many many years so been unable to continue seeing her. But for my money was the best ever. Up till then used to indulge with full service punts.

I've got fond memories of her at Hatta also.
I've not been for ages.
I wonder If the barber's chair's still there. :drinks:

I was a regular at the Jacaranda 1960/62 so also share your memories. As for the Barbers Chair at Hatta...I had a few decent haircuts there before massage. The owner Nok ( now of Panivan) was previously a trained hairdresser

Jopan from Post Office Ave in Southport also trained, I've had a few good haircuts there too

I saw Jopan once in Walton where she worked with her sister
A very good service. I had previously seen Diamond and been offered full service for £100 which unfortunately I did not have with me. A lot of money in those days but I returned to a week or so later planning to partake. However as they say :the best la plans of mice and men etc"  she was not working that day. However Jo obliged and it was one of the best full service I have received. I did plan to return but the venue closed shortly after and by the time I found out some years later where they were I had moved to Manchestet.

Ah Diamond - it was her and another cracker, Raya, who both worked with Jopan in Post Office Ave - opened Thai House virtually around the corner.
As the story goes it was their 'boyfriends' that financed the shop, but both left not long after
