Author Topic: SP has found out who I am  (Read 14198 times)

Offline JackieBoy007

I received a text message from a SP informing me that they know who I am and they even told me my first and second name!!! Has anyone else experienced this and what should I do in this situation? 🙈 Any help would be much appreciated… I don’t want to make things worse for myself…. But I know I have to take some responsibility of course…

Offline Wood2017

Definitely concerning and not a good look on the SP's part but what's the background here?

Is she blackmailing you? Is she claiming you've done something wrong and she's reporting you? etc.

What's the context here to even start off this chain of events  :unknown:

Offline JontyR

If you google yourself - what comes up?

If the answer is nothing, then get a new sim and stop worrying. If you don't use a punting phone, then block, stop worrying and get a punting phone.

Offline maybe

@OP finish your sentence, she messaged you and ..... ?

What do you think she was trying to achieve by telling you she knows your real name?

What else did she say? What are you worried about? If she threatens to "expose" you that's potentially blackmail: not very smart on her part.

What point are you trying to make mate? There's several SPs and escort agencies who know my home address because I've had outcalls and from that they could easily find out my real name etc. does it worry me? no, so what exactly is it you are worried about?

Your not using a punting phone

Your are using a registered personal phone in you name

It does come up

Maybe she was giving you a heads up a friendly reminder you are doing it on a personal phone not a punter phone

It's not always malicious

So far since February I have told 116 customers about this issue

Phone company settings on the handset release this information

You need to disable it in settings

Or get Viber or text me hushed or a punter phone

Offline Atrueyorkie

1st of all it’s sounds like potential blackmail, which is a crime. Remember that part.

She reached out to you, nothing has happened yet but if it does that’s important information.

Secondly if you don’t have a punting phone get one. Or if you have one just change your number.

Reverse search yourself, see what comes up under your current number and if you can remove it, remove it.

Don’t panic. Nothing has happened yet, and you haven’t said you’ve done anything wrong, so nothing to worry about on the grand scheme of things.

If you get consistent messages or calls, log it and use it for a police case of harassment and potential blackmail.

Offline deg_dilemma

Possibly a case of having his Google account linked to the text message app on an Android phone.

The only problem is that caller ID will be totally disabled so you'll appear as "withheld" or "unknown" on people's phones and many SPs don't take calls from unknown numbers.

Not sure I fully understand this - anyone I phone who doesn't have me in their address book can see my full name unless I change some O2 settings?

Offline Count Backwards

This sounds like the new variant "we'll send the boys round" threatening texts where they have your name. It's easy to say, but it looks like van be safely ignored. They know nothing about you apart from your name.

I would be interested to hear more about your though and if it turns into anything more serious.

Yes, it's part of caller ID. I get calls from random people and companies and my Android phone shows me the name of the caller. Try it by calling another mobile phone from you phone and see what it shows. The amount of info varies by network provider

Offline DastardlyDick

Unless or until you get an actual threat, I wouldn't worry, but I would definitely get a punting phone asap.

will do .... I never get that on my phone, always see a number but never any more information than that unless they are in my phone address book

Does it matter if an SP knows your name? Have they threatened you? They've probably found you via social media (which nobody should use, there's no point in it whatsoever.)

OP can't be that bothered, he logged off straight after posting and hasn't been back on since.

Offline jgillis

For clarity.

In the UK, the caller's name is not transmitted over the Caller ID protocol. Only the number is signalled.

When your phone shows a name (as many Androids do), it's either that the name is in the receivers contact list or the number is listed on a third party service like TrueCaller.

Such services are normally crowd sourced and offer a deletion mechanism. They are usually in place to identify cold calling spam and sales.

Can only think you screwed a female provider over.... Many of these women don't have time to play these games. Despite saying that  :D there is a lady on here who reports guys if you don't make a booking with her immediately after enquiring about services which is kind of petty and nefarious.

It may be if you’re using an iPhone you’ve set to share your details.  Check your phone app settings.

I once saw a new SP”s site, googled the phone number and found a whois page giving her “real” name and address.  I sent her a text letting her know she was sharing her “real” identity.  She sent me a lovely reply saying how grateful she was and the implications if she’d have been discovered, etc.

Never did get to see her as the site came down.

Without context in this situation, we can’t add much, other than to say that not everybody out there is out to get you..

Little to go on from OPs post. But yeah it's not always malicious. I remember getting a WhatsApp from a fairly new SP. She wasn't in my contacts list, and so WhatsApp displayed the name she had set in her profile, which was actually her full real name. I didn't quote her name to her, but did point out that it had been revealed to me and she might want to get a burner number for professional use.

On here, or do mean on SAAFE?

If that’s true what you say (not sure I believe it), tell us who it is so we know to avoid unless making a 100% definite booking as opposed to making an inquiry.

we don't know that there is a problem! As far as we know, the Op hasn't been "outed" or blackmailed or anything. and the OP hasn't been that bothered to read our replies / advice as he hasn't logged in since posting!

could be a lot of hot air over nothing at all!!

With you on that, she has not made any demands or followed up on this. Not everyone is out to scam you (you need to have some faith in humanity - even if not a lot)
As stated earlier she could just be letting you know that you are giving more information out than you probably know.

Saying that if you do an in-call they know where you live etc so not a big issue

Yes on UKP I would DM you her name instead of publicly outing her because she’s not working as much as before and doesn’t really do escorting anymore.
