Author Topic: Parlours are they brothels?  (Read 3544 times)

Good evening,
I’m sure a lot of the men on here have decent jobs and if they were raided it could be awkward. What is the situation with the parlours? What would happen if they were raided?
Thanks

There was a thread previously where someone put the case / distinction between a massage parlour and a brothel but for many including myself they are one of the same.

The bottom line is that paying for sex in this country is perfectly legal in a massage parlour / brothel and if it gets raided then it may be a bit embarrassing but you won't get nicked for it.
The exception to this would be if the girl was under age; trafficked or coerced etc even if you weren't aware of this however there have been posts on here before where places have been raided and the punter has been quietly told to sling his hook as ultimately they are after the people running the show.

Working in or owning the brothel is illegal and that includes the receptionist / maid / pot washer etc etc

Thanks for info mate. So they won’t take your name etc? I’m not punting at the moment but may visit one of the establishments in the future.

If you're in a place when it's raided they very much WILL take your name.
Firstly as a possible witness
Secondly to eliminate you (or otherwise) as a potential member of the gang running the place

In the eyes of the law yes they are the same. My question is this…..

In certain cities (Manchester, Sheffield to name 2) there are a large number of parlours, brothels that have prominent websites advertising their services whilst in other cities they are much rarer or don’t exist (Leeds).

I assume the difference here is the local council licensing and influence of local police force. I assume that in Manchester/Sheffield these licences are given as the local council/police feel it’s better for the girls to have the safety and comfort of the parlours and easier to police. With an un written agreement to keep the establishments above board (no under age, no illegal workers etc)

Does this in theory make it safer to use parlours in these cities?

Not one to moan but a while back I asked similar questions about the Directors Lodge in Pinxton where there are a lot of girls that I would  like to see.

The response was somewhat vague and I still won’t visit. I don’t want to give my name and address to plod no matter how reassuring the place is. Or how unlikely I will be summonsed. A brothel is a brothel.

Most places I see are where one girl works alone (Totally legal and the best bet) or two girls touring where although technically a brothel is more about safety.

Nothing and nowhere is 100% discreet for any punter. You just have to stack the odds in your favour as best you can.  :hi:

BP I think the only point to make it legal. There is only 1 girl allowed to be providing sex. Once there is 2 or more, they are technically illegal. Not generally pushed unless there are problems, as it better than them offering services on the streets.

And provides a level of safety against dodgy punters

NO!
There is no licencing for sex parlours - there's no legal way of doing it.
What are licenced in some towns are massage establishments - but that's for massage as a health treatment. Not massage as a sexual service.
And FWIW as far as I can see neither Sheffield or Manchester require licences for massage parlours. They do requires licences for  sexual entertainment venues, but that's for the likes of strip clubs, pole dancing, peepshows and the like.

Interesting….. I guess my question then is why are these cities different to other neighbouring cities?

I can’t think of another reason other than local “authorities” been more lenient? I’m not talking about legality but tolerance.

I believe different policing strategies are the reason.

Over in Newcastle for example brothels aren't tolerated but agencies are, and the police have dedicated liaison officers for agency workers and independents.

Different priorities for different local councils.
Some don't see sex work as a problem. Some do.

Many many years ago I was in a room in the massage parlour made famous by the Wayne Rooney incident. I had just finished and about to leave when I heard male voices in the corridor. The girl I was with popped out and quickly returned. She informed me that the police were on the premises and I would have to stay in the room. She told me they were often there just had a quick chat and then left. 10 minutes passed and then a quick knock on door and the receptionist shouted "all clear " and I left. My much younger self used to punt regularly around Liverpool at this time and never experienced this again.
