Hi all,

I need your help with suggestion/ advise.

I did contact few escorts via Vivastreet a day before (some Brazilians and newbies particularly) and then arranged meet with a Thai finally. So I have now got this text and will need advise on the course of action if you could kindly offer and please avoid similar situation for not being scammed as I’m glad I didn’t meet anyone in person as that situation could have been worse. This is the message, I have received:

Message 1:

LISTEN to me  carefully to what I'm going to tell you about the escort you contacted and wasted her time! I lost a significant amount of money for your fault! If u don't  want problems, you have to pay £700 as soon as possible, otherwise we will  come after you and you will have big problems, including your family to! Don't play with us!!! let's finish this nicely without any problems
DON'T EVEN think to block the number as we will find u anyway! You're tracked step by step
ONCE IS PAID WE END ANY TROUBLESIf u don't REPLY or PAY the money now

Message 2:

do you think we were playing? if you don't do what I tell you now. you and your family are in big trouble. do not provoke us to do great madness. pay now and you're free. you and your family are tracked step by step. no one can stop us

Online Ennui Smith

Probably trying to frighten you.  I doubt they actually know who you are or are able to track you.  You probably ought to contact the police.

Offline Hereto69

Ignore. Contact the police and stay safe.

Offline Condominium

Don’t worry unless you’ve disclosed any personal details such as where you live. This is a very common scam which has presumably had some success, as more and more punters are reporting a similar experience.

Some recommend reporting the number and messages to the police but that’s entirely your call.

I get one of these messages every other week, just take the piss out of them and block the number.

I’ll happily post these with numbers to set your mind at ease if the mods are cool with that.

Offline Dark Vader

Had the same message myself and I went up like a rocket. Told them to send me their address so I could give it to them in person. They came back with, we'll come to you to collect. I then calmed down and remembered the threads on here and just ignored them. Heard nothing since.

Offline Longshot

Its all bollox, either simply ignore them or play some games and string them along.

Absolutely nothing to worry about

Offline Newjack1

I had this before, just phoned them called them a useless sack of shit and they eventually stopped bothering.

To reassure yourself, try and find you from your number. Thats going to be the only info they have, spend some time google, facebook, insta, etc and see if you can find yourself. If you do, start mitigating that

Offline Newguylincs

I'm guessing you are using what's app.
If you are the settings which you choose to display your name could be problematic if your full name is on there.
If not I wouldn't worry, to trace you from just a mobile number would need software and knowledge that I doubt they would ha ve.

Offline Jameson20

This happens all the time and is always a Sergei trying to scam money out of you. Nothing is going to happen to you. The best thing to do is to a) get a burner phone as pkay99 says, and then b) reply to their messages and pretend like you want to make a payment and when they send their bank details, tell them you're going to report them to the police. Either that or string them along. I quite enjoy pretending that I'm terrified and desperate to pay but there's always a pesky issue like the details don't work, or can I send them a cheque or a postal order. As with any scamming cunt, while you're wasting their time, they can't be scamming other people.

Offline Newguylincs

I'm sure they wouldn't like the police attention though,
I would message saying you have contacted the police about harassment and I would be surprised if they responded.

Many of us have been threatened numerous times and none of us are dead yet.
Just ignore the twats
Or else have fun with them and lead them down a wild goosechase. I had fun with one by demanding an address to make the payment to, claiming my bank insisted on an address. After best part of a day of texts they gave up in desperation.

Involving the police is probably futile - they don't have the time or skills to investigate

Is it your personal number or your punting phone?

Offline fatboy

Yes, as others have said it is a scam, best blocked and move on unless you like
the sport of winding them up. There have been previous threads on this.
It's all part of the fun.

I think the old bill probably have the skills but agree not the time. It would likely come under the Malicious Communications Act
