Wrong. Gentle squeezing is not the same thing as choking. So if you're gently squeezing someone, you aren't choking them. Therefore it is indeed an oxymoron. But no worries. Consenting adults can do what they like, I suppose.

Well, I've got a problem with putting your hands around someone's neck, compliant or not.
It's something that's too easy to misjudge. I speak from personal experience.
Someone pulled a knife on me once  on a late night bus. I grabbed  his throat, singlehanded. Thumb around the windpipe, fingers into his carotid. Took him five seconds to go down, unconscious. A few more seconds and he would have been brain damaged or dead.

This is the point. We know what we think the expression means in a BDSM context, but equally scutty has a point that 2 unknown partners might have a different level of understanding.
