As much as the idea of this is i think excellent in theory and will in a percentage of cases work, sadly in a lot of violent rapes it will enrage an already hyped up and on the edge man who is now in excruciating pain. Obviously, I wouldn't rape a woman, but if I was the sort of man who would, and I knew these things were out there I'd either have a wank or pay for a  prossies services! Just looking at it brings tears to my eyes!

Then you clearly don't have the mindset of a rapist so it's not possible for you to put yourself in that position.

As a victim of an unsuccessful rape attempt, I like many other women sadly know that to fight back will often result in a worse outcome.

I was very lucky, my sharp mouth and ability to read body language fast saved me the full ordeal, but I was still held at knifepoint for a couple of hours and subjected to molestation, my actions could have gone horribly wrong, many many women are not as lucky as I was.

Out in SA where this is referring to it is a brutal and violent country with very little respect for women and a culture that doesn't deal with the perpetrator.

It's not necessarily the rape it's about the power they feel over a woman, I have a relative who recently suffered a rape by 3 men,  she was 3 weeks off her 18th birthday, they drugged her in a club and took her back to a hotel, she woke in the morning not knowing what had happened exactly but covered in blood and bite marks, what she is going through is horrendous and the consequences will live with her forever.
They went out as a group of 3 with the  intention of looking for someone to do this to, now that is sick imo

I bet the 3 guys dont get long inside the way our justice system is so soft. 

they should never be let out. No one can go from doing this to suddenly after time in prison to be a good person. That just doesn't happen. I say throw away the key to the 3 guys.

I did read an SF story years ago (probably back in the 1970's) where a similar device was used as an anti-rape device, but with the additional hazard that it contained a small bomb which would was primed when the penis was inserted.
Detonation was triggered automatically either by attempted removal of the sleeve, or remotely by the offended woman if she felt the perpetrator wasn't repentant enough. The idea was that once attached, it was there forever as a kind of criminal tag / deterrant

My thoughts exactly on reading this item. Perhaps an improved version would have the barbs coated in an agent to render the perpetrator  instantaneously unconscious. Something of the sort used on darts used prior to operations on dangerous animals in game reserves.

Curare or the like tempting but OTT and sadly would be illegal  - and who would be foolhardy enough to risk inserting it ?

He might find device inside her and become even more violent and start using the thing itself to harm her while she's unconscious.

Which is why normal well adjusted people find it so hard to wrap their head around it.

I suppose we'd have to agree there is a spectrum of what would be classified as rape.
There is a world of difference between being drugged, gangraped and used as a gratification tool and someone who oversteps social mores, misreads social signals and maybe takes advantage of a partner who is intoxicated.
I think the latter situations back up your point.
The former I think backs up my assessment.
Sexual stimulation is not as simple as boy sees girl, girl is pretty and has nice legs and tits, boy goes schwing!
We have thousands of years of evolution, modern society using sex as marketing, and the perils of being raised by fucked up deviants to put into the mix.

When I first read about this device, I really found it cringe worthy, but if it serves a purpose.  So how much thought was put into this item, and did the company
seek legal advice.

Now is this item legal with in the UK, and think this is where problems begin, when traveling from one country to another country.  An example of this cannabis is legal in some states.  But the FBI stance  on this if traveling by airplane, from a us-city to another us-city, and if caught could face a number of years in jail

If someone goes out there way to rape a female, who is wearing the rapex, how much damage is done to the rapist, and if he pulls his penis out, and is bleeding badly.  The rapist will know he going to jail, for a long time, and the extend of the damage to his penis, does he seek damages
