Location snobbery

Do you guys find yourself blacklisting SPs on the basis of the neighbourhood they operate out of?  I find myself making preconceived assumptions if a girl works out of a scuzzy area, I dislike the thought of visiting a girl in say Ilford or Enfield, but am likely to be more trusting if they were in say Finsbury Park or Highgate.  Obviously I'm London based but the same principle would lie nationally so when I used to punt in Newcastle I would prefer places like Jesmond to Wallsend. I find it difficult to escape the idea that in cheap areas your more likely to get HMOs with stained mattresses and also potentially trafficked girls.

I just look at the area on Google Maps and then decide how I am going to get there. If it's dodgy looking then I may choose not to go at night or park my car somewhere safe and get an Uber or other mode of transport to the location. It's more discreet and I am mess likely to have problems.

Like RandomGuy99, I usually do a Google Street View of the postcode, so I can assess how discreet and/or dodgy a location may be

Absolutely agree, that's why I titled my post location snobbery, it's not entirely logical, but I'm not minded to even text a SP from say Kingsbury so never going to know whether its a nice gaff or a dump. It's for the same reason I wouldn't use VS everything about it looks cheap and nasty, I much prefer AW although I'm fully aware I might be the one missing out

I've certainly pulled out of bookings when the postcode has revealed that I'll be travelling to some forbidding looking block of maisonettes.

Agree that in London, in the same area you can be one block between safe and dodgy. I tend to use Google maps and play it by how I feel when I arrive. On a couple of occasions, I have left due to an area not feeling right when I arrived (obviously making an excuse to the SP that I had to leave cos I got a call blah blah blah) but overall, found myself some good punts in areas where I wouldn't normally hang out.

The one thing I can say for sure is that when the area is a known 'nice' area eg. London areas like Bayswater, Maida Vale, Earls court etc  ... the prices go through the roof.

I don't punt much in Blackpool and there are lots of areas that i'd not wander around late at night or indeed much after dark this time of year.
The same is also true however of most places and let's face it a lot of girls are located in the shitty parts of town.

Around 50% of my punts over the last 2 years have been in the blocks on New Hall Lane in Preston but i'd not punt there after dark either, as for further down that road near the other end I had an early afternoon punt about 6 or 7 years ago and had to sit in my car for 20 or 30 minutes waiting for the text to come up, I felt really uncomfortable as there was clearly drug dealing being done right out in the open and then an unconnected altercation broke out between 2 guys coming out of a convenience store

Like others I tend to get a postcode and then take a look on Google street view, i've been sent postcodes around Manchester and half the windows were boarded up, I didn't book.
Also avoid areas where there are only 1 or 2 cars parked in the street as they're basically run down shitholes and your car will stand out like a sore thumb.

I did a few jobs in Old Harlow maybe 2-3 years  and saw Chelsea ( now sadly gone  big titer) and one day the Police heilcopter was up and all of Harlows Police were running around some teenagers had nicked a mobitly scooter then found hiding in a shed but came out with a pair of shears ( so then armed ) what a mess for the idot tracky wearing litttle pratt

It's been around three or four years, when I was there it appeared to have a spice problem which is a pity, because like so many parts of the UK it has the potential to be a thriving town, but years of austerity has it in a death spiral

Must be 6 years ago, spent a night in Blackpool, lunchtime to lunchtime with a Fuckbuudy, broke up a drive to Scotland  .

Little Boutique hotel with a four poster and a very good bathroom  , was very nice and a great breakfast, winter strolls along the prom, in and out of a few boozers was pleasurable enough, quite enjoyed it 

As for avoiding places, only if the pad  looks really rough when I get there, cannot let the state of the country dictate where you go

Two of the best and worst London locations I've ever visited were only 3 streets apart, not far from Kings Cross.  ( The bad one was one of the Vivastreet ads that disappear as fast as they appear, building was half boarded up, and I think was knocked down soon after. Went ahead at the time and actually had a decent punt.  Probably wouldn't risk it now.)

In my home area, I'm more likely to veto a visit if it is in an area that is more exposed and residential, no matter how nice an area it is. Easier to enter and leave anonymous blocks of flats than to rock up at someone's front door where neighbours can see the arrival.

I think that age is a factor here, when I was younger (pre internet and mobile phones) you had less options, and probably less aware or concerned.

Blackpool circa 1980 was great fun, went back for a visit circa 2015 and was saddened by what I saw in comparison, destroyed pleasant memories.

Today my mind still wants to punt, sadly body does not 🤬
But when it did, liked to drive and have easy parking and area appears clean and safe.

Many years ago before Streetview was a thing I booked a punt near Tower Bridge (London). Royal Mint street was the address given. Sounds posh I thought to my self.

Half an hour later I found myself in the scummiest council house I'd even seen, and to date, probably the worst location I've visited in the past 20 years.

I like Blackpool (actually Fleetwood). I visit twice a year. Civvy ladies are so friendly and accommodating.
Even the tram is having a great time

You're unlikely to ever see that tram running again. Or any of the other historic Blackpool trams.
All the legacy trams were withdrawn from service this week with no notice, and no real explanation. Though it looks like the impossibility of upgrading them to modern safety standards at an acceptable cost may be part of the puzzle.
At the moment it seems a very good chance that most of the historic fleet will be heading to the scrap man

very few of them left
I doubt there's many coachbuilders left with the woodwork skills to build or repair them.
The Cinderella ones are more of a metal bending job

The skills are still there, few and far between, but those who can are mostly very willing to restore history.

This is more about money though, councils etc can waste money , usually with friends and family  , and health and safety etc. red tape.

My disabled  stepson has just had issues with council contractors stealing while he popped out to buy them lunch, as they had turned off the gas and electric, looked into the company, set up during Covid, and a councillor is listed as a director, they are all filling their boots.

Well they're claiming they will be back next summer, the whole tramway was modernised in 2012, I actually didn't think it was that long ago but remember being pleased that they had kept some of the old ones to run alongside the modern ones.
My understanding at the time was that the old ones got new "running gear" in the old shells but clearly there are other complexities involved in keeping them going

I wish they'd get rid of those fucking things as IMO they're a proper menace 

1st off they fucking stink and obviously the horses just shit whenever wherever 
Then if you get stuck behind one you can't get past, even worse now that they have narrowed the prom so it's mainly single carriageway.
The cunts driving them just seem to pull out without even looking if anything is coming behind them 
I've also been stuck behind one a mile or so away from the prom as it's going to or from where it's stabled overnight

Licences are limited to 44, surely that could be whittled down a couple a year until they disappear

There are some locations in Manchester that I would visit during the day but not at night. I like to see who might be hanging about and if I punt late morning/lunchtime the local 'characters ' will still be in bed!

I've noted that areas that are more well to do has less mobility scooters and crutches but more walkers, folks with sticks and wheelchairs. Purely anecdotal and I may be more likely to notice evidence to back up this assertion.

On holiday a few years back. I got talking to a couple on the cruise ship over dinner one evening.
They were thinking of visiting England the following year….. London of course.
But went on to tell me they decided against it after hearing there were a lot of areas in the capital that even the police were frightened to enter.
Fox News of course was their source.

I told them I lived in the centre of London and felt safe as long as I stuck to the advised curfew. 😂
