Why do they always announce redundancies just before Christmas ?
Loosing your job is not a nice thing to happen at any time but to loose your job before Christmas is even worse.

Its not that nobody wants them, some do and they suit some people, but not 22% of buyers.

Might be for the politcs thread really,  :D, but being forced to make cars that you cannot sell is not good for any business.

Ellesmere Port has the same issues, will probably be next  :unknown:, these companies are not in control of their own business model, legislation is, and they are fining the dealerships for not selling enough of the cars they are forced to make, which means they are no longer in control of their business, the whole industry is a shambles, profits are being hit, and employees are the first to go.

Even Tesco are threatening to close stores, new opening plans for most supermarkets are being cut back, but of course the economy is going to grow

So they delay the announcement until January and employees spend a fortune they now cannot afford on Christmas!?

That is exactly right and historically, a lot of people booked their summer holidays between Xmas and new year  - when the redundancy news comes in the new year it causes even more stress because they have committed to even more financial spending!
So actually people prefer to be told at the earliest opportunity and legally employers are meant to start the  ( so called) consultation as soon as possible!

I'm sure they announced it asap which surely is best all round.
