No porn, no wanking will fix most ED problems

I see this constantly on the forum, but it is incorrect. Porn and masturbation, have an extremely minor role in the aetiology of Erectile Dysfunction.

If you read any reputable source of medical/scientific information on the subject you will struggle to even find it mentioned.

External Link/Members Only. This link does mention pornography. Masturbation is predominantly only of relevance in connection with the refractory period.

You should not be self diagnosing and self-medicating.

Here are the NICE guidelines on Diagnosis and Management which your GP should follow External Link/Members Only  ... though given the current state of the NHS best practice may not always happen.

This is a 'bible' ED document which highlights the importance of seeking medical investigation of ED and it's relationship to underlying disease in particular as an indicator of Cardio Vascular disease. A very long and detailed reference, but 'everything ED' is in there!

Have you consdered you may be gay?
I'm aroused by women, not men. You might as well be calling OP gay. What a leap!

I think excessive wanking can make it harder for men to cum. And having a wank the morning(or night)before your booking can be a bad idea.
I think ED is caused by various issues. Could be down to age, general poor health,a medical condition, side effects from medication or recreational drug or alcohol abuse.
If you don't know why you are suffering from ED it probably best to figure out the reason and treat it accordingly. Ideally getting advice from a medically trained professional.

Doc, I have a lot of respect for your postings. Can I just say in my case having weened myself off ED tablets, I see my girlfriend not more than once a week usually as she lives a distance away. I found that by not wanking, I stayed a lot hornier and that gave me the confidence I would still be able to get an erection. Until I met my present partner I had more or less accepted I had got to the age where I had to take Viagra and took it for several years. Since meeting her, I haven't taken it for over a year. I know she wouldn't judge me if I couldn't get hard but I am sure the lack of wanking has helped in that I'm desperate to cum when we get together.

Yes I recall reading your previous posts about your relationship. It’s great that has worked out for you.

I seem to recall, like myself, you were no spring chicken  :D so the first thing I would say is that if you are now able  to have satisfactory erections in this relationship and without pharmaceutical assistance, then you do not have (or have had) any significant degree of erectile dysfunction caused by vascular or neurological factors.

I have highlighted a couple of key sections in your post. Clearly in this new relationship your head is in a ‘happy place’ and your confidence is high. You are not concerned at her reaction should you fail to get an erection, so you are relaxed and have very little performance anxiety. You are comfortable in the relationship.

Your libido in terms your sexual desire for her is likely to be high (probably reciprocated) and this is also in your favour. I note also from a previous post you have lost some weight which is a positive.

Over the years I have read many posts from punters saying that they use ED meds, but never seem to need them with 'the missus'

Which brings me to masturbation and frequency of sex. This relates more to the refractory period I mentioned in my other post. This is normal physiological process with great variability but always getting longer with age. It is not erectile dysfunction.

External Link/Members Only

By adjusting your frequency of sexual activity as you get older, you are maximising recovery times and libido.

All that said, if you feel that reducing masturbation has resulted in you being confident then that is all that matters. Me telling you that masturbation does not cause ED is irrelevant   :D

Best wishes  :hi:

I'll be 73 this year Doc and never felt younger! But yes as you say it is whatever works for the person in his particular circumstances. And it's a nice feeling to be still able to perform without taking the tablets.

Interesting mention of Kegels, I first learned about these exercises in my late teens performed them ever since. In the last year added lightly weighted Kegel balls to my regime, an effort to reduce age related muscle loss as I approached and have now achieved my half-century. Many men are not aware they can practice these too albeit without ability to insert weighted balls, but at the article says 'inconclusive' regards refractory period although may help in general. I can't contribute because they have been a constant for me, and my orgasm is not related to intercourse or stimulation of the vaginal canal/G-spot - it's all via my clitoris and another non-vaginal erogenous zone.

From observation a man's strength of erection, ability to climax within a defined amount of time does decline so makes sense if you wank to completion close to a booking, ability to respond may be reduced.

This device came up on my Facebook feed, so you could try this for ED, but when I seen the price £1500, no thanks.

But there a cheaper option, and think it does the same thing to help with ED, which is a kegal8 device at £140

Keep hearing about peptides doing wonders for fat loss, libido. BPC 157 apparently this miracle peptide that helps people recover rapidly from serious injuries like torn ACLs.

I know someone at work who did Shockwave therapy and it helped him with ED.

Solid advice from the guys already.

Us men always put things off and ignore the little health issues.  Anyone (40+/never met their GP) that hasn't seen their GP for a while should do their annual health check for full blood count, urine, blood pressure.  Let the professionals monitor your liver and kidney functionality as you get older, especially those that drink or smoke.

I occasionally get the headaches when highly stressed.  Headaches with blue pills.
My BP was actually stage 3 (critical) when measured, add a some white coat syndrome.

Anyways, my BP is now controlled.   No more headaches.   The body still needs to acclimatise with the lower BP, so go easy on the extra curricular activities for a few months.  Erections seem to have improved.  Morning wood is better now but not that teenager hard cock we once had.  :sarcastic:

stop smoking
stop drinking
stop using recreational drugs (if you are)
stop wanking
lose weight
switch to a healthy diet
get fit
try to remove any stresses in your life
see your GP and get checked out - could be due to many things: high blood pressure, low blood pressure, thyroid problems, kidney problems, diabetes, low testosterone just for starters
or it could be psychiatric - which comes back to removing stress from your life

I don't know if it's possible for everyone to remove all stresses, but the rest of the advice is sound sense. Certainly exercise is essential, and it doesn't have to be extreme. I'm the oldest member here, but spend about two hours a week swimming and do a lot of walking. This among other things enables me to support a needy cause with tits about once a week.

Me being me I need to get a new reg....that approach might also suit the OP?

Other stuff you can try to boost testosterone, energy levels and libido:

Fadogia Agrestis 600mg (Nigerian plant)
Tongkat Ali
Black gold mountain honey
Yemeni honey (Considered the best medical honey in the world but very expensive)
Red blood honey from the Himalayas
Royal Jelly powder
Shilajit (Tastes awful)

Yes strictly speaking, but other members experencies can be intresting and usefull!..

Exactly. Anecdotal experiences can always be very helpful.

Also i have to agree with the no porn and no masturbating/ejaculating shouts.

I notice a difference myself when i abstain from these things. Basically the only 'porn' and ejaculation should be encounters with a real women.

Also there is research that suggests that abstaining from ejaculation for a week can increase testosterone levels to a degree.

Enjoying this thread for sure.  One other thing that is severely underrated when it comes to Reversing ED is Gut health. I used to get bloated/consitpated alot and i didint think much of it until i started having some mild ED symptoms . did some research around gut health  and bought supps like Glutamine, Colostrum and probiotics (yoghurt etc) aswell as elminiating refined sugar and fast food and my libidio has been sky high ever since just from that alone .

I'm searching for Tongkat Ali on Amazon, but the closest results are for "tongali" supplements. Is this the same thing, or some other product piggybacking on a deliberately similar name?

You can check 3rd party tested products and should avoid buying from China.

Methylene Blue has been getting a lot of attention recently

Have to make sure when you buy Fadogia Agrestis it's from Nigeria and Tongkat Ali is from Indonesia

I recommend reducing the carbs which are a major cause of developing type 2 pre-diabetic.

It enabled me to reduce my blood readings, so I'm no longer in the pre-diabetic range, plus it'll make a big difference to your waistline. :hi:

Bit late posting here, but i will share my ed story. Been extremely active in sports and fitness until a divorce ment 2 years of stress and  not exercise. Health when down hill. Im only 39 but went from 6pack abs to 4 stone weight gain, titties and a kite bigger than a barrel. Admittedly my once fantastic physique was chemically enhanced from my early twenties, and seperating from wife and family (all amicable now) ment stopping the gear completely which fucked up my natural testosterone. I had the testosterone of an 80 year old man but all self inflicted to look fantastic during my 20’s. When i finally got back on dating scene and gym the biggest problem was the ED. Went to doc and they suggested seeking private help as nothing nhs could do. Did a test and consult with hello clinic and was prescribed TRT. So basically the trt dose brings my levels back to when i was 25 (or quite close) what a difference it has made to sex drive and libido. If you get a test done you may find this is the main cause of ed especially if your 50+. The dose of test given is basically 1/5 of the dose that i use to abuse when using steroids, but what a difference it makes when you are naturally low from age etc

I did an experiment today, instead of taking half a viagra before a 30 min meet with a regular I wore a cock ring. My ED problem caused by the high blood pressure meds is that while I can get hard at the start of the meet, lil Jayne has a tendency to lose interest on a position change, or worse during the event.

Cock ring did seem to make a difference, managed sex in cowgirl, doggy and prone bone before losing wood for missionary on the home stretch. That's much better than my previous efforts. So partial success.

Reg recommended I try a tighter ring but not sure about that.

So, I took the recommeded dose for a full month. Noticed zero change, no benefits, no side effects. I had a couple of punts during this time period and noticed nothing out of the ordinary in terms of libido or performance (and if there was, it was a drop in the ocean next to the viagra I also took). I won't be using this again.

No, not overweight.

What would you say the benefits are, in your experience?

Offline Sunny

No, not overweight.

What would you say the benefits are, in your experience?

Rock hard/girthier erections and reduction in anxiety. I also take Fadogia agrestis.

I have been going to the gym for a while now consistently so that might help as well. If you don't train or have lower body fat, tongat ali won't make a noticeable difference. You need to fix your hormones first by exercise/diet/sleep first and then start taking supplements.

Offline Munter84

Hey, if it works for you, fantastic. Myself, I didn't notice any change, although I was fairly happy with erection quality and didn't really suffer from anxiety before. I was hoping for that "little bit extra, just for luck" quality - the only other supps I've really experienced that with are Zinc, which I take daily now, and Maca, which I haven't used for a while for some reason.

I completely agree physical fitness is a big component but feel I've got that dialled in as well as I can already. Weights 3x a week, cardio when I can, nonsmoker.

Cheers  :drinks:
