As it turned out, there were several colleagues of mine who were at the same meeting in Darmstadt who were around during the day after the meeting. I felt honour-bound to meet them for lunch, which ruled out a trip to FKK. So I thought I'd try one of the massage parlours mid-morning. This was a mistake. I tried the one called Banyan Thai Massage that is very near Luisenplatz. It's upstairs: there's a sandwich board outside that you will find eventually. I wish I hadn't managed to find it. It was a perfectly pleasant place, but definitely does not provide an erotic service (fair enough: it says that on the sandwich board) and also doesn't have showers. So I had a good non-erotic back and head massage with lots of scented oil that just got wiped off and then had to put my kit back on with a back and neck that still stank of aromatic oils even after a thorough towelling.
This then turned into a one man farce: with me (long since checked out of my hotel) wondering how to get a shower, so I wouldn't meet my colleagues for lunch smelling like I"d just left a whore's boudoir. I phoned several other massage parlours thinking that I might find one that could provide me with a massage followed by a shower, but none of them did. I even considered making an excuse about lunch and going to the FKK place, just for a shower, but then one of my colleagues texted my about the lunch plans, and I decided that I'd just have to man up and take my chances. A long walk in the very warm weather and some time in the gents to freshen up as best as I could when I went back to my hotel to pick up my bags mitigated the problem. Lunch with my colleagues was very enjoyable, but the massage experience was not what I'd been hoping for.
The bottom line seems to be that the only action in Darmstadt is at FKK - which I still haven't tried!!! And if you want a non-erotic massage, then that's not a problem, but make sure you have somewhere to go to to freshen up afterwards, because the massage parlours don't have showers. And if you want a quick rub and tug like I did, well that's just not on offer.
