People are very cold, although I have to admit that I went in winter, which normally makes people less approachable. Young people can speak English, but I was in the Russian side of the city, working in a Russian company, and I always had the sensation that they did not like to speak in English. Older people have no clue about English. So, I did not feel welcome at all.

Latvia had recently joined the Euro. So, prices went up like crazy and people spent all their money as if there were no tomorrow. The country was quite expensive. Not English prices, but almost. I wondered how people could make a living with the average wage. Not my case, I had a high income there. Well, many people were paid under the table. I was too, and I did not like it, but that was the Latvian way. Shopping was done in the central market. The convenient supermarkets, like Rimi, were for tourists and people making a high wage. Corruption was widespread, and some Latvians thought the country had been taken by the local mafia.

I was there about 10 years ago. Things might have changed.

Been to Riga last year, was enjoyable but I was mainly out clubbing. Most people spoke English, but the main majority in the country is still Russian. In past 5 years I've spent more time in Kaunas / surrounding country than in the Uk. 

Would definitely agree with YorkshireLad's recommendation for External Link/Members Only and with Yakuza0 - insanely hot Ukrainian girls super cheap.  As well as being careful on genuine photos, they are usually very strict on cum limit and 30mins means once; 1hr means twice.  Lithuanian girls might be more inclined to work on time but I guess the UK is the same - some girls work on time, some on cum limits.
