Being in love with a wife or partner means the willingness to sacrifice.

Oh dear. Perhaps you’ve led a sheltered punting life.  :D

Pray do tell us all. Exactly what is normal when it comes to paid sexual experiences. D

Maybe it’s just me then. I’ve never been able to look at my punting experiences as just being businesslike.
I know others will. It’s all about the physical and if that works for anyone. Then alls good.

But what might be daft to some. Is altogether normal to others.

We are all different 👍🏻

“Perhaps you’ve led a sheltered punting life”

If that’s not an oximoron I don’t know what is.

Get real telling a bird who you’ve just handed over a wad of cash to that you love her is sad at best. As for if it’s businesslike or not let me assure you, on her part it is. You might be confessing your undying love for her, she’s thinking about her admin and how she’s sorting the next punter.

Closest I've come is loudly groaning a sincerely felt 'ohhhh babyyyy' while cumming.. but as mentioned above it could be dicing with EAS or risk the WG thinking you're intrusive and/or a nutter

Yet another one of those posts “I know better than you cos I’m clever and your not”   :D

What is sad about handing over a wad of cash …… and then letting reality turn into some kind of fantasy.
Isn’t that what paid for sex is all about.
Obviously not for you it isn’t. By the sound of you it’s simply a case of you paying to fuck someone for your sexual release. Nowt wrong with that if it works….. as I’ve said elsewhere.

But why the need to make assumptions that it’s sad to think of it as something different.

I am not saying that it is not a business. That’s not what we are talking about (now keep up here)
The subject is what we as punters think of as we experience our playtimes. How some of us view and see things, say things.
NOT what or how the SP views things.

Si what does it mean??

Explaining the meaning of love would be as complex as explaining why an awful lot of people believe in an all powerful deity. Yet find it a problem to believe there are fairies living at the bottom of the garden.

Plus even attempting to explain its meaning would be lost on you me old mate  :D

Offline Stevelondon

Oh go on then. I’ll give it a go.

Love (the word) will have different meanings to every one of us. Because we are all emotionally diverse.

Its meaning changes because the love you feel for your wife, girlfriend, partner etc. Will be different from the emotions you experience for your children, family etc.

Love exists for me every time my grandchildren run into my arms. (It’s there all the time of course) That overwhelming joy, protectiveness for them I get.

In essence. I can’t explain what love means. Only feel it.

Before anyone ask. Yes in my real life I write romance novels.
Only wish I could sell one of the buggers. 😂

Not at all. In post 53 my view of the meaning of love is the willingness to "sacrifice". Love is when you see old married couples holding hands. Having been through all the ups and downs of life together. The bond between them is as close as when they first met each other. Also I'm not your mate  ;) ;)

I don't think what we perceive as love is love. It's all lust camouflaged as love. Love is selfless but the ego can never express or perceive love as it is selfish and always lacking. True love comes from abundance and not lack.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'sacrifice'.

I would sacrifice my life for my wife, my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Making sacrifices for love in a relationship obviously shows the other person you care and makes them feel valued, however if you sacrifice too much and they're not appreciated or reciprocated, you risk losing your sense of self and becoming unhappy.
Sacrifices need to be balanced by our own needs.

Still think as long as it stays in the room it's fine if you wanna do it. As long everyone knows it's part of the experience and nothing more.

I don't think most escorts think I'm a sexy bastard but they've called it me more than once.

Quote
Love is selfless

Invariable when people talk about love someone always comes up with that quote.

I actually think love is the most selfish human emotion we have. I'm a firm believer of the Psychological Egoism theory. This theory suggests that all human actions, even acts of love (or waht is perceived as love), are driven by self-interest. Basically it means that even when people do things that seem selfless, like showing love, helping others, etc. they're really doing it because it benefits them in some way, whether by making them feel good, gaining approval from others, or receiving some other kind of reward. Of course these rewards that they receive may or may not be conscious which is why most people think love or acts of love are "selfless".

If Psychological Egoism piques your interest have a read:

Gosh. I had you down as an old romantic  :D

The 'head doctors' struggle with the whole concept of love with frequent polarised definition. It's a human conundrum and will likely remain something of mystery. The only thing for certain is that love is powerful in how it shapes our lives.

Love and lust are separate entities though. Each can exist independently without the other or be present running side by side. It can result in a very broad spectrum of  possible outcomes from lifelong bliss to murder!!

Got a session planned for tomorrow with my regular and she’s texted me to confirm arrangements and she puts “lots of love see you tomorrow”which she does sometimes put any way or says it when we leave hers to me it’s just a saying I know it doesn’t mean anything although we do get on really well when we see each other,to me it’s just her nature in saying it.

Psychological egoism theory my arse.

Come on Steve, I never said it's wrong to feel good when you’ve done something good. Read my post again.

This is a typical example of people "reading" what they want to read rather than reading what it says.

---

Whenever I approach this subject people usually view the concept of Psychological Egoism negatively simply because of the word "egoism." They often react like Stevelondon because they associate egoism with selfishness or some kind of moral failing. I'm talking about a philosophical theory and within that context it's useful to view "egoism" in a positive light, as I believe it aligns with the concept of self preservation which is an essential aspect of human nature (actually not just humans but all living organisms.)

Acting in one's self-interest doesn't mean you don't care for others; instead I view it as a way to enhance our ability to contribute positively to the lives of others. Let's have an example, on airplanes we are always advised to put on our own oxygen mask first before helping others. This is a prime example of how helping oneself first can enable you to help others better. If one was completely 100% altruistic you would put the oxygen mask on other people first which means you run the risk of losing consciousness and therefore not able to help anyone else; least of all you.

Another usual saying is the love parents have for their children if completely selfless, but is it? If we look at another way, and especially from an evolutionary biology point of view it could be argued that parents are driven to protect and nurture their children to ensure the survival of their genes. This can be interpreted as a form of self-preservation on a genetic level, where the care for our children ensures the continuation of our genetic lineage.

This is very controversial, I had a few female friends outraged when I mentioned a parent's love for their children may be selfish rather than selfless. They maintain that as mothers not only do they care for their children selflessly but would care for any child likewise. When this happens I usually post a question that goes like this: Imagine two children are being swept away by a river, one of them is your child, you can only save one. Which one do you save?

None of this is conscious, of course, as I believe our reactions are based on our core "animalistic" feelings. The reason people react badly to the suggestion of psychological egoism is also because us humans tend to "romanticise" (for lack of a better word) everything including our emotions. Not only do we romanticise emotions but we also create complex systems of laws and societal rules to moderate our raw instincts associated with self-preservation. This is the only way to maintain social order and prevent chaos. Imagine if we had no laws, no regulations, no religion, no moral rules; our unchecked animalistic behaviours would inevitably lead to conflict and a complete breakdown of society.

So we romanticise our feelings and make ourselves feel better by saying things like love is selfless.  :D

OK I'll stop now as I know I'm pissing people off by having radical ideas of our very complex human nature.

Yes, mistaking lust for love is very common, especially in men. I did write about this on one of the many EAS threads how some men confuse good sex/lust for love and end up "falling in love" with their favourite escort.

As Doc says, if only life were simple, we would all be happy chappies  :D

I agree Doc. But that human complexity and our behaviours, to me is best explained, as I said above, by psychological egoism. I know it's a very controversial theory, and much derided also. But to me it makes sense when one remembers that at our very core, us humans are just animals, driven by the same raw instincts, emotions, and survival mechanisms that have driven our species for thousands of years.

Offline Stevelondon

@akauya………..    oh forgive me. Obviously read all that wrong then.

It’s just that you said “The theory etc etc………. Then go on to say you are a firm believer of this theory.

Sort of sounds like you think love or loving is a selfish act to me and that getting feelings of self goodness out of doing nice things is a purely selfish act. Which I take to mean you think it’s wrong.  :D

It’s an interesting theory I have to say and one I have not heard of before. So I’ll just pop to the library in see if they have any books on this. So I can didn’t the next few days learning up on the facts……. Errrr….. theories of it all.
Then again I might just go for a punt.

Decisions decisions. 😂

Just to add. Being a retired deep sea diver. Means my lung capacity is far greater than the norm. So I’d definitely be putting other peoples masks on first.
In theory of course.  :D

Love can mean a whole lot of different degrees of affection. Certainly, I have one regular where I whisper it in her ear sometimes and it makes her giggle. And I kinda mean it. She's important to me. I don't think she's my girlfriend and I don't want to marry her, but we've been doing it for years and I know all about her life and she knows all about mine, and it's a relationship of sorts. These things don't always fit into neat boxes.

Exactly. Just cos something is transactional doesn’t mean feelings have to be left on the punting doorstep.
