Author Topic: Convenient/discrete hotels in Bristol?  (Read 1564 times)

Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any hotel in Bristol that (a) is decent (b) doesn’t have security on the door 24/7 and (c) doesn’t have card access issues with the lifts/corridors. A girl I have seen regularly over here on my side of the country is planning to go there soon for the first time. I was there a few weeks ago with my gf but noticed security everywhere. Seemed to me like Bristol is quite security conscious compared to other places. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Cheers

Not so sure about the security 24x7 but a lot of the girls who tour central Bristol use the following:

The Future Inn (next door to Cabot Circus)
The Delta Hotel (used to be the old Broadmead Marriott)
The Holiday Inn Express (the one right in the centre, BS1)

The Village out in the burbs (Filton) is also well used and by tourers is easy to get to from the M4 or M with loads of free parking.

None of these venues have keycard access on the lifts. The least decent out of those is the Delta Hotel, it is due a refurb so the rooms are a bit sketch.

Village hotel Filton is pretty good.

Free parking (up to 4 hours - no need to register your car)
no key card for the lift

the hotel itself has a large non-residents gym and starbucks, so there are always a lot of non-residents coming and going in the lobby, meaning the reception staff don't look twice at you.

(I sometimes think quiet hotels are bad, because the reception likley knows they have WGs there, and seeing a man walk in every hour or two, then walk back out, that isn't a guest must be really obvious)

Perfect, thanks to you both

The only issue I've had in hotels over the years is if the access to the room is key carded - reception staff never care

Village hotels are always great for this, but one WG did tell me recently that the cleaning staff are causing some issues if they see a lot of men going in/out of a room in the AM. Ive never had any issues there myself

Ive seen girls in the posh looking marriott and one of the Hiltons many years ago - no problems

The Village and Future Inn as per previous recommendations. There is also the Double Tree Hilton in Aztec West where I have had some good times.

There is the Ibis on Millennium Square as well. Just walked straight to lifts
