Cricket, is that the sport they play for 5 days then ends in a draw or they don't like playing in the rain and so call it a draw. I think I'd rather watch paint dry.
Is this the sport we invented, gave to the rest of the commonwealth countries but get beaten by them  :D

 :D Yep, that's the one!

I confess the under 21's had passed me by, I'm glad you've reminded me, now we're in the semis. I was thinking more of Infantino's club world cup; no doubt the likes of Maresca will be bleating about player welfare next season.

Yes the World club cup is such a BIG tournament  none of the main tv channels or Sky / TNT are bothering to show it  :sarcastic:

I didn't watch the Portugal  v Netherlands game but Netherlands played most of it with only 10 men and Portugal also missed a penalty.  I did watch England's last group game against the old enemy Germany which they lost 2-1 and didn't play particularly well. We could meet them again in the Final if they overcome France but I fear the French will win the tournament.
There's one consolation now Southgate's gone, if a player does well in this tournament he'll get a game for the senior squad. Looks like Tuchel picks on form not sentiment.

Anthony Gordon was player of the tournament when England won the competition in 2023 but only got about 30 seconds of game time in the men's Euros in 2024, Livramento's already had a game at senior level.

Tuchel also picks old has been's like Jordan Henderson . He wasn't a bad player at his peak but hardly a game changer now.

He picked Dan Burn as well but there's more to a football team than 11 players kicking the ball. Experience and leadership skills come into it as well. There needs to be a balance.

The problem with Southgate was he stayed faithful to a lot of players even ones that weren't getting regular first team football with their clubs but the talent pool of available players to pick is shrinking season upon season.

I recall Southgate bringing in new players when he was 1st in charge and people saying it was a breath of fresh air, I guess it's normal to mix things up and put your stamp on the squad but then you also want to get some stability in there too and fall into the same pattern as the last guy with favourites

What a name for a footballer, and would be fun if he came and played for a team in the premier league

What a season for big Dan Burn at Newcastle, scored the opening goal in a cup final, given the freedom of Northumberland, first England call-up and now voted Newcastle's player of the season.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.   :drinks:

Never heard of him, wonder if he may be related to Christian, of the legendary Leicester City side of 2015/16.

He came across very well when being interviewed @ the Barcelona F1
Big indeed 6'7" fit agile with it
Signed for £13m a bargain
Boys own stuff born in Northumberland & his commitment is so evident

The england team there with the training camp in Barcelona prior to spanking the mighty Andorra all of 1-0
Talk Sport gave odds on 10-0

England won the under 21s euros when they beat Germany in Extra time by 3 goals to 2.

Hopefully this is a precursor of what the England senior mens team will do in their upcoming tournaments next year.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that happening. Quarter finals at best with this current team. Few if any from the U21 team will be in the full squad for next year .:unknown:

Livramento's already played for the senior side so he must be confident of getting game time, he also qualifies to play for Scotland and Portugal.

If Southgate was still there the U21's would have no chance. It remains to be seen if Tuchel keeps playing players on form or reverts to Southgate's method of playing favourites who couldn't get a game at club level.
