External Link/Members OnlyAfter reading a number of rave reviews for this place, I couldn’t wait to check it out but unfortunately, it just wasn’t my day. Popped in Monday evening, greeted by a smiley mamasan at reception. Was told there was a 5 minute wait which I was fine with, asked if I’d been there before, which I replied yes, long time ago (In reality, don’t think I have) and asked if I was okay with Mary. No idea who that was so I just responded with yes.
Told to go to room 2, where I got undressed. mamasan pops in randomly as I was naked to advise me that the young girls are an all on holiday, which is why Mary who is the receptionist was going to do my massage. Oh and all the “young” girls will be back next week! She basically cushioning the blow for me because she figured I’d be disappointed with Mary and at this point, I wasn’t expecting much. If she’d told me this at the door, I would have walked. . Anyway, so Mary enters and she’s a very plain looking lady in her 40’s, nothing interesting to look at. Not much conversation, just ‘hello sir’ and whether I’m happy with her to use oil.
She puts lots of hot oil on my back and proceeds to massage me. She did not ask what sort of massage, so it ended up being a light massage around my back and buttocks. Nothing sensual and not much concentration on the legs. Didn’t touch my arms and they were left hanging. Up to a certain point, my arms were feeling stiff as they’d been hanging down the side of the table for so long. Massage went on for what felt like ages but then ended abruptly with the percussion technique on my back where they hit your muscles a number of times which wakes you up. This was a surprise as I was not asked to turn over at all and when I looked at the clock, it had been about 50 mins gone which explains why it felt long. She offered me a shower, which I needed as she used a hell of a lot of oil. She turned on the light, and I jumped in the shower. (She didn’t even bother to hand me a towel).
Anyway, I showered, got dressed and wandered back upstairs and out. Mary was back on reception duty, wearing a beanie hat. She’s definitely not a looker. Spoke to me very formally, ending every sentence with ‘sir’. She thanked me as I was leaving but she didn’t even look up. Very disinterested and I feel any staff that just says thanks without looking at you is poorly trained for customer service.
So the experience was rather disappointing. I paid £50 at the door. Was not offered extras. I was prepared to at least spend £20 on extras. Don’t think I’ve ever had a massage with no turnover. In terms of the place, it does the job but you could hear too much going on. I also hear the phone going off and going unanswered a number of times. (Was it you guys calling to book? lol ). The room was a reasonable size and the shower was big and had shower gels available. Absolutely necessary, considering how much oil was used. The room was particularly warm and during the massage, there was this constant noise every 10-15 mins or so like a kettle boiling water automatically. Not sure what it was but that along with the sounds outside and the phone ringing, was pretty distracting. The massage itself was rather dull. There were a few occasions where she applied a bit more pressure to the point where it hurt a bit but it wasn’t consistent. The rest was just her hands gliding around. I don’t think she’s trained in massage.

Bright side, I saved myself £20.. Just as well I also insisted on paying by card at the door (mamasan really wanted cash) as that also gives me a small win of 50p cashback (Chase debit card) to make up for the dull and anti-climatic session.

I might try this place again but for someone else.
