I don't know anything about the punting situation in N.I.
Does anyone know if it's deterred punters?

Just shows what the local police think of the law.
They've got bigger fish to fry.

I've previously been told that a lot of the girls in NI work for or are in some way connected with the paramilitaries which would make sense, i'm thinking that the police won't want to be fucking up other investigations by leaning on every punter who pays to fuck a prossie  :unknown:

So, let's suppose there are gangs smuggling brandy into the country. Lord Morrow's solution would be to make buying brandy illegal. Pillock!

Cheers to the Police for ignoring this stupid law!

Thanks for that link - interesting read. This bit stands out:

"The Sex Buyer Law reduced the rate of STIs in Northern Ireland but led to between a 10% to 22% increase in sexual assaults committed against women.
Policymakers should seriously consider whether a reduction in the size of the sex market and a decrease in STIs is worth an increase in sexual assaults committed against women."

Like the writer says the increase in sexual assaults that has resulted from this law is concerning let's hope lawmakers will bear this in mind in future.

The incidence of crimes against sex workers has increased in all legislatures where the Nordic model was abopted

see for instance Campbell et al  "Not collateral damage: Trends in violence and hate crimes experienced by sex workers in the Republic of Ireland" Irish Journal of SociologyVolume 28, Issue 3, December 2020, Pages 280-313 External Link/Members Only

This is probably because of the increased stigmitisation of Sex workers following the introduction of Nordic model type legislation.

But abolitionists dont care

I wonder if  the STD reduction was actually due to Covid lockdowns?
Would be very difficult to determine
