Author Topic: Have you had HPV vaccination?  (Read 1550 times)

Micheal Douglas said eating too much pussy gave him his cancer. Men having sex with men is high risk.
We might have accidentally had sex with a post op?

Just wondering if we can make a case at a private GP clinic?
Have you guys been vaccinated?

Not sure what the point of this is? What has some actor got to do with anything? can you link to some reliable documented evidence that there is an actual risk?  :unknown:

As with your other post, you do what you think is necessary but don't count me in your 'we'.

Wasn’t even aware of this vaccine so you’ve given me something to think about and research.
Thank you.

You do know it's a vaccine given to children before they start having sex with others and it's only for under 25's don't you.   :unknown:

Missing your HPV vaccine
If you missed either of your vaccines at school, you should try and have it as soon as possible.

Contact your school nurse, the people at your school who give vaccines (sometimes they are called an immunisation team) or your doctor (GP) practice to get an appointment.

You can have the vaccine up until you are 25 years old.

Being up to date with your routine vaccinations is important.

Not at all punting related so moved to off topic.

I have seen this discussed by punters in Thailand.

If you go on mongering trips to Thailand as an adult you can get a 3 dose course of injections from a Thai hospital.

Currently on offer for 23,500 baht (around £500) @ Bangkok hospital, plus "doctor fee". That's over 6 months so you would need to be staying a while or making a number of trips.

Oral sex does not directly cause throat cancer, but it can spread HPV. HPV can cause pre-cancerous changes in cells that may lead to throat cancer later on. Smoking and alcohol consumption further increase the risk that an HPV infection will become cancerous.

From medical news today.

I also didn't realise there was a vaccine for HPV, something to research. Had a quick look CDC in the states reccomend best stage if effectiveness at 12-13. Can be given up to 45 years old but you would need to speak to a doctor about its effectiveness.

Or you could just go to Boots External Link/Members Only (other similar providers exist) I believe a two dose schedule is now considered sufficient?

If you are over 25 and have been sexually active with multiple women, then the ship has sailed with regard to any real benefit from this vaccine.

This subject has been covered many times on UKP. Threads like this demonstrate again just how many punters are driving around having not passed even their theory test.

Very useful - thank you. Now I’ve done some research around this I found the same info as you’ve provided.

Might have some benefit, but less.

It’s easy to miss stuff. Years ago I had time to keep up with most stuff going down on UKP. More people perhaps just follow their narrower interest and have a nosey of other threads in off moments.

There’s not a sticky on what you’d call basics, so I wouldn’t be too hard on a punter who has clocked up 128 reviews.

The 45 age limit is because no clinical trials have been carried out on anyone older, presumably because it was regarded as a waste of time. By that age you're almost certainly already infected and the presumption is the vaccine would have no effect.
Because of the lack of trials the product license doesn't cover over-45s.

FWIW I checked availability of private prescriptions yesterday. Lloyds say they offer it - but were out of stock of Gardisil-9 with no indication of future availability. Production shortage maybe?

You have perhaps you missed my point? UKP may or may not be a useful resource, but repeatedly in such threads, large numbers of often very experienced punters, appear to have no sound knowledge of sexual health, depite the internet being a plentiful and mostly accurate resource  :hi:

Google tells me there has been a shortage since 2018 due to high demand which is only expceted to be resolved in 24/25. Private clinics are at the bottom of the chain of priority.

From memory the age is strictly only extended to 45 in the case of MSM and this is in relation to their higher susceptibility to anal cancer and which the vaccine may benefit?

EDIT forgot the link External Link/Members Only

That would correlate with what I've read - certainly 45 seems to be a special case for MSM
