When I was learning to drive, it was drilled into us that the car horn was only to be used as a warning to other motorists / pedestrians.
Since those days, I became an advanced driver & trained in military 'tactical driving' whilst in the RAF whilst training as a pilot.
An incident this morning has really shaken me & prompted me to write this topic.
As I was approaching a junction this morning in very light traffic, a van starts to reverse round the corner, into the road where I'm still approaching the junction, by now only doing around 15mph - I guessed he hadn't seen me so I did a very light 'toot' on the horn, just once & stopped my car.
The van also stopped, around 2' in front of me & the driver shouted something (which I expected to be "sorry mate, didn't see you") but no, drivers door opens & out stepped a walking, talking, gorilla yelling obscenities at me, asking me why the FK I was "blowing my FKing horn at him, who the FK did I think I am" etc etc
After me telling him that I was simply using the horn as a warning & not a rebuke - "I didn't think you had seen me" - his rage only worsened - aparently, if I didn't FK off right now Grandad, he would insert said horn in a place where the sun never shines (Aberdeen maybe?) - meanwhile all this is captured on dashcam - which I foolishly pointed out to the primate.....
It appears my dashcam would also be inserted into Aberdeen if I didn't "get to FK right now you white haired old FKer)
The gorilla was in his late 20's at a guess - I am startled & amazed that a simple 'toot' on the horn should lead to such behaviour - sometimes I despair what we have become.
