I know I know, I promised when I posted back in January about my December 2022 Pattaya trip that I was going back for a massive birthday party in Bangkok and Pattaya in the Spring.
Well, it happened and here’s my musings.
We arrived via different locations on Saturday and what a shit start.
We’d booked the trip earlier this year and what no one had realised was that the Thailand was going to be closed at the beginning of most of the lads holiday – Saturday 7 May and the end on Saturday 14 May for elections. I asked Qs on here about whether the Thai’s follow the ban, and boy do they.
The holiday started in Bangkok in a 5 star hotel. As most of the lads arrived in the afternoon, the 6pm alcohol and entertainment ban shouldn’t have, but really took us by surprise, in the sense that we didn’t think a 5 start hotel would refuse to serve farangs booze.
Oh well, being guests of the country, we all decided to abide by the rules, went out for a nice meal, (no booze) and got back to the hotel for an early night – well the Thailand virgins did. Me? I’d already started making curfew plans by subscribing to Thai Friendly premium at £15 odd pounds for 30 days or so - and ordered a young 20 something dark haired big boobed beauty. Was this the cost of living crisis, Russian invasion, crap FX rates finally kicking in? I spoke to many managers, and they did say Pattaya was quieter than pre-pandemic high season. The nightclubs in the first two nights were busy. Two nights Myst, Insomnia and Republic were relatively empty!

I enjoyed this trip for different reasons. Going in a big group allowed us to average out the ridiculous spend. Bar and club owners clearly liked hosting us as were ringing bells, making it rain, buying loads of lady drinks, and generally acting like weekend millionaires and spunking money, which clerarly some of the clubs and bars desperately needed! The girls also made money and great tips.
