I wonder how different we are to this study (note it looks quite old but may not impact)?

From 2665 completed questionnaires during the 17 month data collection period, 267 men (10%) were identified as having paid or been paid for sex, of which 261 case notes were located for review. In all, 258 men had paid others for sex; six had been paid, of whom three had also paid others. The mean age of men in the sample was 35 years (range 18−76).

I am older than the mean age I fall into the 48-57 age group below. Where do you fit?

However
(a) only 138 respondents (it wasn't an anonymous poll) Younger members who do post may not want to reveal their age bracket whereas it was obvious some of the older guys were only too happy to post they were still punting into senior years. 
(b) It may only confirm my suspicion that people who post on punting forums are likely to be in the older age brackets? (The thousands of lurkers may all be 30 years of age  )
(c) It was interesting scan reading the thread that many of those in the older age brackets have been punting for decades.

In summary all very interesting but just adds to the confusion? 

I still believe that the average age of those who post on UKP is higher than the your average punter.

Their research is a bit vague IMO.The participants were asked if they had paid for sex not if they were regular user of SPs.There is a big  difference between a guy who banged a hooker on a stag do once in Amsterdam once and a guy who punts regularly.

I always tell them if they ask. They always pretend to be amazed. They say I look like mid '60s. Next month I'll be 87. I wake up every morning amazed to be alive ...

Extremely rare for a WG to ask for your age in my experience.

Maybe in passing conversation it might come up.

When I'm green light and I have my number displayed I ask for an age in initial communication if that is by text or phone call, I send something like.....can I just check your over my lower age limit please

I ask because I have an over 28yo policy, if they have read my profile then they will know this and I often get guys saying I'm in my 40's or 50's etc and that's fine, I don't need a precise age and I don't have an upper limit.

If I text back and say I only see over 28yo can I check you are older than that then I know I will get the early 20's lying and saying they are 28 to pass my screening, I've had it happen a few times and it's obvious when they arrive, so I end up having to refuse the booking at that point which is much more tricky because I get the 'oh but I'm here now can't you bend your rules ' 'it's only once I'm only 4 years younger' 'ill pay extra'

The lower limit is there for my comfort not the client

In general I'd agree with that but since reaching my 80s it happens on most occasions.

I can't work out whether their curiosity is as a result admiration, pity or just surprise..

To add to the communication confusion I usually say I'm 70 plus VAT, or sixty twenty three

If the SP asks I say truthfully 68, although some SPs have guessed 42.. some complement me by saying I fuck like a 25 year old..

You haven't lived until you try a soapy sud or nuru massage in Thailand.  Haven't been to Thailand for many years but my first experience of a body to body massage was in Thailand
