Author Topic: Should moaning about what others pay be treated like talking politics on UKP?  (Read 10916 times)

Offline jamiekinkxxx

Should moaning about what others pay be treated like talking politics on UKP, i.e. have a similar rule attached to it?

Every day there is someone on the site having a moan about what another has spent on an escort. Is this right? Is this fair? Why should members get beaten up just because they see 'value' differently to someone else?

It is their (the reviewers) own hard earned money and should not have anything to do with anyone else... but this just occurs again and again.

Escorts have every right to charge what they deem fit. Basic economics will determine whether she gets enough work at that rate that she is happy with. So no one is paying over the odds by seeing an escort at her advertised rates.

This whole price argument is just boring and repetitive.

If certain punters think a girl is charging too much it is simple, don't see her, but don't have a go at the guy that did.

If other punters are getting priced out of the market they are used to due to prices going up, then they have some hard decisions to make:

- Stop punting
- Punt less or book shorter bookings
- Spend less on other things to compensate
- Try and earn more
- Drop down to a lower price point
- Wait for a price correction, if one ever happens

What they should 100% be doing is stop moaning about it, own it and stop playing the victim.

I'll give you a counter thesis:
Talking up prices and paying over the going rate should be treated as a breach of punter solidarity and result in disciplinary action.
Overpaying forces inflation and overpricing.
Lets treat overpayers as blacklegs.

How is someone over paying if they are paying the advertised rate? Is it for us as punters to set a price cap on what a girl can or cannot charge? Who is this mythical board of experts who make these decisions (and enforce them!)?

Basic economics determine the price not us individually or as some sort of punters union!

I hate this shit. Personally I find the persistent price comments irritating, but real world effect they are actually preventing people from reviewing, and isolating members. I raised the issue with Daviemac

All your solutions seem logical, but I think the troll commenters are posting emotionally, so is lost on them. Unsurprisingly they're consistently able to highlight the problem, but not a viable solution.

Highlighting prices are high in relation to average earnings and how often people want to punt may hold water.. but its just a fact of life and prices will work themselves out whether that's up or down.

This all punters should unanimously stop paying is bullshit, as there's many who don't give a shit and aren't in contact with one another. If people want to moan fine, but don't do it on peoples reviews since it makes people feel targeted.

Your thesis is based on basically saying people can't spend there money as they choose and high earners aren't welcome on ukp

The majority of punters are not on ukp, so what would this achieve? (besides being able to avoid having to hear about experiences people can't/won't have)

Honestly Scutty this is codswallop

You may think ukp is the be all and end all of the putting world but there are a larger percentage of punters who have never heard of this site or would never join or use it than are members.

How do you propose to reign in those in and get them to stand in solidarity and not pay higher prices

We can't get members to read and abide by the rules we already have never mind brining in censorship of what people can or can't say.

Where would you draw the line on what comments can be made?

FWIW I agree than comments about how much a member pays is out of order, so as with anything else if you see it report it and the mods will have a look.

We may be reading the original post differently, I understand it as Jamie is talking about individual members being singled out for their spending (especially on their reviews) not discussions of general punters spending

Don't care how it is done TBH.... as Tony Blair said maybe? education, education, education.

Daviemac made valid points on where do you draw the line? BUT I don't think the general premise of the post is stupid in that the moaners need to stop moaning and being victims of things that are:

a) out of their control
or
b) have nowt to do with them.

Most certainly on individuals getting vilified for spending £x

But also the whole, "punting is so expensive (brigade) compared to way back when" is also boring and repetitive IMHO, I mean what can we actually do about that... supply and demand sets the price not us as individuals.

Let's get one thing straight, we are not going to censor what people can post, we are not going to stop members saying that the price an escort charges is, in their opinion, too high, that is freedom of speech.

What isn't acceptable are derogatory comments directed at someone who has willingly paid the advertised price.

i dont really think that those who pay over the odds change the market, they are a minority, most punters especially those who punt often, tend to pay sensible prices, i was struck years ago by the fact that the  late duke of westminster, never threw his money about , and he was a serious punter, by and large girls hope for a big win, but accept the market rate meantime.

There is a lot of deriding and belittling going on in regards to what people are paying, and it does put some off (like me before) writing reviews because you know you're going to get hounded.

Just ignore people.  Practically no-one here knows who anyone else is - just a load of randoms on the internet who can be switched off any time.

SA for me is an example where a lot of women might be getting / have gotten / want say £300-£400 for a meet and won't budge on that.  Possibly they drop off the site if they're not getting what they want rather than lower themselves to accept a paltry £200.

What a ridiculous out-of-touch thread to make.

WGs prices have are outstripped inflation and at a time when there's a cost of living crisis, this couldn't be felt more acutely.

If you post a review you will be critiqued. All you can do is defend your decisions, not demand special treatment for your sensistive feelings.

Pretending that when punters give in to higher prices doesn't hurt other punters is ridiculous because that only reinforced those price points.

Then there's the tone-deaf absurd unhelpful comments such as "stop punting", "earn more". How is this practical advice?

People will keep posting about prices because it is an issue and you can't pretend otherwise.

Should have know you’d appear  :dash:

Whilst I appreciate that opinions are like arseholes - we all have one - and people are entitled to voice theirs along the lines of “I wouldn’t pay that much / I don’t think she’s worth it” the absolute bollocks you and a few others spout about paying higher prices ruins it for others is exactly that.

And quite simply, if you can’t afford to punt, then it really is tough. It’s not a human right to have sex ffs.

I don't see how you can compare politics to punting prices.

Politics is not punting related but someone who is speaking against what one pays is classed as an opinion on the punting subject. This is a punting forum.

Is like going to a political forum and having the moderators of those forums banning the members talking about tax charges.

But it won't have that effect though will it because UKP members don't form 100% of the punting client base, they probably form less than 10% in reality so this boycott the higher price girls and the price will come down is bollocks.

You wouldn't say to someone who looking to buy a house to "stop searching" if they can't afford to get on the property ladder.
Also,  if landlords was buying property and that makes the house market impossible for people to compete then you would not like that.

Not every WG prices themselves like that, either.  I do think there's a general propensity for punters to gradually increase their expectations through a series of good and bad experiences until their tastes and requirements for a 'good punt' end up costing them more to get the same high a 40 quid rattle would have done a few years ago.

I have no problem with anyone that pays, say, £400 per hour and has a great time and reviews.  And if escorts want to charge that, great for them. But I do worry that new punters might think that £400/hr is required to have a good punt, or that £400/hour means that a good punt is highly probable. So we need to be able to comment on the price paid for a punt.

The consensus on the site is that there is a vanishingly small correlation between great punts and price paid (above a minimum that depends on region).  Does the OP think I should not be able to say this to help out new punters?  Criticising an action (e.g. 'you could have had better for less') is not the same as criticising a person.  I am never in agreement with the latter.  But please don't suggest we shut down the former.

Also, anyone who has been here a while knows that new members do not read the history - which is understandable of course.  (We know this, since they keep asking the same old things!) .  So you may find it repetitive when some one says 'you could have had better for less', but it is the nature of a forum that we need to repeat things sometimes.

This idea that we (this imaginary group of mates) should all stick together and NOT pay higher prices is absurd. Is the idea by not forking out….. the price will drop.
My mate still smokes at £11 a packet and the price of tabs is ridiculous. Why does he still buy them if he thinks they are too expensive. Idiot.  :D

You wouldn't say to someone who looking to buy a house to "stop searching" if they can't afford to get on the property ladder.
Also,  if landlords was buying property and that makes the house market impossible for people to compete then you would not like that.

Maybe the punters who paying £400 a hour on a regular basis are the enemy to majority of punters who can't compete with them.

Sometimes you have to take one for the team and refuse to pay over a certain point to keep prices down abit.  :unknown:

No I would say sabe more towards the deposit or buy a cheaper fucking house  :D

And why would I take one for the team and not sde an escort I really wanted to... it make zero difference to her price if I do so.

You guys just DO NOT GET THE BASICS

What's your non-useless advice?

Don't give in to higher prices. Go on punting holidays.

Exactly ChadPitt so you keep to the local food bank and leave us that may want to shop at Waitrose are right to do without get villified for doing so

What a gouache attitude. You're delusionaly trying to argue that you're getting value by paying excess. Well guess what? Taste the difference, own brand tastes comporable to brands.

So you are paying over the odds and not being clever about anything.
