Surely every review here is subjective and not objective?
They are the individual opinion of each person based on that person’s tastes and, as such, subject to a huge number of influences. One of these being the potential that a reviewers comments will be visible to any SP that cares to browse the forum.
If a detailed commentary is provided, as per the OP above, then the SP can quickly identify the reviewer and that reviewer must know this as they are writing their commentary.
Fair points but you don't consider how people behave. Agreed that reviews are, by their very nature, subjective but you introduce (more) bias if punters talk/discuss UKP with SPs and make themselves known to them. Often this manifests itself as more favourable reviews, watered down comments or no review at all.
If you're at work and giving an assessment to colleagues of someone who has done work for them (say a female contractor), is your assessment the same whether the contractor is in the room or not, particularly if the contractor hasn't done a good job? What happens if you like the contractor and get on well with her? I would say many people, perhaps even most, would change the language if she's in the room.
What about the scenario that a SP knows who a punter is on here and can influence his behaviour? It happens and punters get banned for it when found out.
What if punter had a good punt and would return, but thought the SP was overweight? If he isn't shackled by her knowing who he is, he can give a more honest (still subjective) view. Even if he uses softer language, she still might take offence and refuse to see him again. One potential outcome is that he skirts the issue completely. Again his behaviour is changed.
Similarly, what about the situation where the punter had a good punt but the SP made it explicitly clear she doesn't like UKP. Even acknowledging you are a member fucks up your chance of repeat visits. Self interests play strongly here.
Personally I never mention UKP to a SP. No good can come if it IMO. There are many examples of punter (aka cunts) looking to leverage their UKP review credibility for benefits, e.g "I'll give you a negative if you don't give me a freebie".
If a SP mentions UKP, I tend to plead ignorance. I also try to anonymise my reviews as best I can (I omit very specific details only myself and the SP would know, and leave sufficient time between punt and review) whilst giving my opinion about service levels etc, so other guys can make their own decisions.
As you know MissW is active on here so likely has seen this review thread. Perhaps you might even have a chuckle about it. I look forward to your review.
